help me decide on a new ball
« on: January 27, 2005, 12:09:41 PM »
I am a stroker who has a slower ball speed
and avg rev count and a 190 average.
I am looking for something out of the
power or master lines. I am bowling with a
hammer Deal right now and I feel I need a
harder hit in the pocket. My friends most
who are better than me don't trust anything
but these two lines from storm. I need outside
opinions. Any help would be appreciated.

Well how fast do you throw the ball? what type of lanes are you on? What type of reaction do you want from the ball?

I am not sure how fast exactly, I'll say between 10
and 13mph, I am on wood lanes a majority of the time
and I want to be able to stand 10 and send it down the
2 board and let it walk into the pocket from their. I
can adjust of course, im just giving an example. what
can you tell me from there

You're profile is very similar to mine and I use only Storm Equipment at this point.

On a typical house shot I'd look at the Recharge.  It's a good medium oil ball that will give you a consistently strong backend.

If you are looking for something stronger or you want to play more of a 20-15 shot you can't beat the Super Charge.  It holds well in the heavier oil and has a great smooth arching movement in the end.

Although I don't own one the other ball I'd look at if you are more of a down and in player I would consider a Hot Rod Pro Stock Pearl (it's in the Hot Line).  It has the same coverstock as the Recharge but with a lower differential core.

Good Luck.

If you are looking to run straight down the 10 board on a house shot and you only throw the ball between 10-13 mph (I through just about at 14 mph) I'd say that most of the Master and Power Balls will be too strong for that shot.  Maybe the original X-Factor or Power Charge Pearl if they were drilled very weak would work, but I think that is overkill.

I'll stick with my original HRPSP comment and add potentially the Flash Point or Eraser Banshee (both from the Flash Line).  The Banshee will probably be the closest Storm ball to your Deal.
