help with virtual gravity
« on: April 07, 2009, 07:16:20 AM »
i have a virtual drilled stacked levrg.  My proshop guy said it would be my solution to heavy oil.  When i went to a tournament with a 41' tournament pattern my virtual just skidded and skidded while my bite with drilling 1 out hook it.  I was just wondering how do i make my virtual my heavy oil ball?  Bring the grit down or re drill? thanks

What's the pin to PAP distance?

"stacked leverage" is different depending on PAP.

Bring the ball down to 2000 abralon, depending on what it's at now.

There's no one specific solution.

you have to change the surface to what suits your needs. I have changed mine multiple times and have found that 1500 works best for me..

Your pro shop guy "should" know your PAP. That is a very important spec when drilling equipment nowadays..

I'd go with a little more surface, the VG is 4000 abralon out of the box which is probably a little too high for heavier/longer patterns.  You will probably want to take it down to 2000 or even 1000.  The other question is how many games have you put on it.  Sometimes a ball doesn't show it's true colors right away, it needs some games to put a track on the ball and for the coverstock to absorb some oil.    Good luck.

thanks i have atleast 100 games on it and wash it after every set.  someone told me that giving the vg stacked levrg is bad because its revving up too early causing the ball to have no hook.

After 100 games, it is not unreasonable that the ball has absorbed some oil, even with regular maintenance. Perhaps a hot water bath/dishwasher/rejuvenator session along with a resurface would be a good idea.
