Ball decision, my first storm ball...
« on: November 20, 2005, 02:23:58 PM »
since I've never thrown one, I'm not sure which one would be the best route, but I feel like giving Storm a try just because.  First off, I'm a stroker, I normally stand about 17 and play the 7-9 boards.  I'm medium to light revs, medium speed.

What I am looking for is a ball to fill the heavy oil void, currently, I have 3 ebonite TPC players, with different layouts (weak to agressive), and that covers takes care of me the vast majority of the time.  However, where I struggle is on the nights when there is excessive oil, or I'm shooting a sport shot.  So I'm looking for something that will be a step up in the oil handling department.  The players were originally designed to be medium-heavy, so I'm guessing the newer medium-heavy and heavy oil balls all might fit the bill, but since I've never thrown storm, I'm not sure how there claims will compare to my players.

The 3 balls I was looking at (I'm open to suggestions also) would be:
Paradigm
Vertigo
Trifecta

Any suggestions on which way I should go?

Secondly, about the Paradigm, and the 5 second rev up, isn't it pretty common for the ball to hit the pins before 5 seconds anyway?  I just figure that part is a marketing ploy, but that doesn't mean it can't be an excellent ball.

JD,

I would suggest the Trifecta. It is very strong and great for heavy oil. A bit more
aggressive than the Vertigo on the backend. See the Masterline Review on the Storm
Tips section of their website. If you go with a Paradigm, you may want to hit the cover
with a green pad.

thanks guys, I was leaning towards the trifecta, so it sounds like that's the best plan.  Thanks again.

The Trifecta is a lot of ball, try the Flash Flood at 1/2 the price.

I have a Storm X-Factor Re-Loaded 15# up for sale. $65 shipped. Dull the surface and it will hook just as much as any of the 3 your looking at. PM if your interested, or check the For Sale section.

Spin time is in reference to how strong the ball is as it transitions from wet to dry.  It's its measurement of how strong the mass bias is......
