I am hearing from a few guys that I bowl with, that their Vertigos are dead. Thay have tried playing with the cover & adding holes, but the thing won't move anymore. I have a Vertigo I am thinking about cutting, but if it is gonna die on me, I will get rid of it.

I currently own two Vertigo's (one polished and one OOB), they have tamed down just a little bit from the the day I got them, but are still quite lively.
The one that is polished has the pin over ring finger and reacts very similarly to the day I polished it. The one that is OOB has the pin below the ring finger, it probably has lost about 4 boards of hook since I first threw it, but is still a very effective piece of equipment.
I Hope this information is helpful.

How long have you had them?

I don't have a Vertigo, but I've seen them thrown and they remind me a lot of the Deuce. The ball is very strong, but it shines up very quickly if left in box finish. From what I've seen, the ball does not really die or anything; it just needs to be worked with scotchbrite or whatever to keep the shine down. Obviously, if you polish it up you won't have to worry about it.

I can't bowl 300, but I can bench 345 : )

I like the vertigo but i like the deuce the best.

I've noticed that mine's a little hard to keep clean. Maybe that's the problem your buddies are having.

So far, I'm on schedule.

I have about 20 games on mine, I've noticed it does shine up quickly and has lost a few boards. Looks like it just needs a good surface cleaning, I'm sure some scotchbrite would do the trick. Or if all else fails, a good resurfacing.

well i got mine quite a while ago and after about a month of use it quit movin like it did. i took care of it and cleaned it of course. still doesnt move as much as it used to. i sanded it down, hit it with some polish. no matter what that ball is gone

About 30 games before I had to treat mine. Used CPR and it worked great!

I bought a used vertigo and I'll be honest, throwing the same line, my Hybrid hooks more. I think it's dead. I had the same problem with a Big Blue Hammer I bought, and also with a V2 sanded. I just need a shiny ball that rocks in oil, I guess...
There probably wasn't enough oil for the Vertigo and it was loosing too much energy before it got to the break point.

From the sound of things, I'd almost bet that your houses are NOT putting down the oil and as Storm Track said, it's probably just not enough oil.
sparebowler...Thanks for the plug, and CPR is an option if you think it's really oil soaked.
If you have a spinner, Clean N Dull is another great option.
