How long for full potential?
« on: January 20, 2004, 10:28:39 PM »
Ok.  I have a duece that is drilled at 1:00 with the RAD about 1.5" right of the thumb.  I've put about 15 games on it so far yet it still won't out hook my thunder road!  My question is how many games do you have to put on a brand new ball before you start to see the full potential of the ball?  I've got this thing drilled max flare but i still can't get it to turn more than my thunder road.

the thunder road is a pin-in ball(about 1").  the pin is right of the fingers and just a little below.  Since they didn't have the RAD back then I would imagine it to be left of the thumb.  the pin on BOTH balls is 3-3/8" from the PAP.  I really don't know what the actual surface condition is because i bought the ball off a used ball rack.  I do however know it's a duller surface.  The duece is still in NIB conditions.  The lanes are probably medium.  I throw the ball in the 14-16 mph range and i probably have better than average revs.

Purely for the fact of you wanting the ball to hook more, not talking about YOU, your style/revs/release, if you want it to hook more, scuff the coverstock. Bring it down to maybe 1000 grit, or even 800 if your really lookin to slice through the oil. Just be careful that if your bowling on lighter conditions, like he said, your ball could roll out and hit the pins dead, rolling purely on momentum...(not good) But not talking about YOU PERSONALLY, scuffing the surface will help you. Just a quick fix so, you know dont expect it to be like coast to coast all of a sudden.
