IQ Fusion vs IQ Tour
« on: February 20, 2014, 03:23:27 PM »
Can anyone compare the IQ Tour Fusion to the IQ Tour? Will the Fusion be a little longer and stronger basically because it's a hybrid?  Also looking for how the Fusion would compare to the Reign On. Reign On earlier and smoother?  Boy, I miss BTM.

I have the IQ Tour, the IQ Tour Pearl, and the IQ Fusion. For me, (at least in Box cover) the Fusion is more of a stronger version of the Pearl than a weaker version of the solid Tour.

In any case, it's a nice 3-ball combo that covers most conditions, except the extremes, that you'll see.

A little longer and so butter smooth off the spot.  The back end and entry angle are fairly extreme, but again, so smooth. Also, no issues getting through the front part of the lane.

This is confusing, extreme entry angle and smooth?

I have the Tour and the Fusion; I passed on the Pearl.

The Fusion is cleaner through the front, rolls later in the mids, and is much stronger and more angular in the back. Nothing about the Fusion reminds me of "buttery smooth." More like hellastrong, angular and continuous.

If your game is moving in and taking advantage of the dry outside, this ball will please you. I have had no problems with recovery or with flat tens when I have moved in. That's just not my A-game.

Edit added to say that I also have a Lights Out. The Fusion is at least 5 boards stronger than the Lights Out, and is more angular for me in the back of the lane.

For me the Tour rolls early in the mids and give me a more controlled, arc shape ball reaction, which allow me to keep my angles straighter as long as there is enough oil in the heads.

I just finished bowling position round against a bowler with the IQ Tour Fusion. I'd have to say, it all depends on how much hand you have, and how you have the ball drilled. This guy had few revs, so" buttery smooth" off the spot was exactly what I saw as well.....just to back up Mr. NickRo assessment.

Dude shot 286 on the fresh finishing with a 253 game for a 761 set. Even when the lanes began to break down, I never once saw this ball jump off the spot!

I love the way it reads the mids. I could do some serious damage with one of these pieces!!!
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

I hear you Jesse. We have some guys like this in our league. We call them fluffers. They can take any hook monster and flluff it up the track and get a smooth reaction to the pocket. They don't do well when there is any volume of oil on the outside, but once it breaks down, they can compete with most.

Maybe I should have explained it as rolling very smooth compared to my other stuff.  It's definitely strong and continuous.  I have never been able to move so far in and still get an early roll to carry so well.  I have a high rev rate, so I'm very please to have something I can move in to the oil with and not worry about it getting squirty. Smoove.

It sure does cover a lot of ground.

Thanks for all the replies.  I recently moved and have just joined a mid-season league.  I'm used to short patterns and low volumes of oil where the strongest balls I could use would be a 300C pearl or a Seismic AMP.  Now the pattern is longer by 4' plus another foot buffed and much more oil in the middle.  I just bought a Byte but that ball is way too skid/flippy for me.  I have a lot of tilt and not a lot of speed so I need something that will read the mids a little better and not be as strong on the back.  I'm thinking that the Fusion may be a better ball for me than the Byte.
