How to get the pyro back to OOB?

well i would take sandpaper on a spinner and wet sand it up to 1500 grit starting at like 800,1000,1200, then 1500 and hit it with some polish

But, you are not supposed to use sandpaper on particle Strom balls.

Thats great, when I got the ball I had no idea there was one in there and I am sure the driller has thrwn the box away by now.

If you were to take sandpaper to a Pyro, you would ruin the coverstock. Storm's particles are so soft that even Abralon pads will dull them down somewhat.

The spec sheet says 1500 grit polished. Last I checked, storm uses Scotchbrite pads when machine sanding their bowling equipment. I'd say take the burgundy pad and work your way up to whatever pad is equivalent to 1500 grit, then hot polish the thing with 2 coats... That'll probably get you close.

I think it's almost impossible to get any ball back to the exact OOB condition...

So to clear this up...

You CAN use a Scotch Brite pad on a Storm ball but not sandpaper?  Also, how can you tell which ball is a particle ball when they all have proprietary names like Reactor or EOX etc?

First question - yes use Scotch Brite.  It is still the best thing to use on particle balls.  I hear Abrylon is better for reactive balls but I have yet to have a need.

As far as how do you tell the ball is particle that answer should be easy - the ball manufacturer will tell you it is.  Every ball that Storm releases that is particle is called out in the cover description - for example the Pyro says it is a Reactor Pearl Particle and they recommend using Moon Shine to maintain the surface.

Since nobody knew how to do it on here, here is the email I recived from Storm on the subject,

Suggested Cleaner: Moon Shineâ„¢ Particle Polish & Cleaner

Resurfacing: Follow the steps below to take the ball back to out of the box condition. Items needed;             Burgundy, Green and Gray Scotch-Briteâ„¢ Pads, a ball spinner, water and Storm Step #2 polish. All sanding should be done on four sides of the ball. Side one- center of grip up, flip the ball 180 degrees for side two, turn 90 degrees for side three and flip another 180 degrees for side four.

      1.  Using a Burgundy Scotch-Brite Pad, sand the ball for 90 seconds on each side.

      2. Using a Green Scotch-Brite Pad, sand the ball for 90 seconds each side.

      3.  Using a Gray Scotch-Brite Pad, sand the ball for 90 seconds each side.

      4.  Use Storm Step #2 Polish on two sides of the ball for 90 seconds each side.
