Barry have both in almost same pin position, of course weaker core but not even close to same ball strength.

I personally think the Dimension is the same cover with a different core, if not exactly same cover very very close. The Dimension goes about 2-3 feet farther and hooks alot more for me on the same patterns. Honestly no reason to carry both balls with me, they are too close to have them both.

Barry,

Don't fall into the same trap. Appearances can be soooo deceiving.

The color, the surface finish, and the general appearance do not begin to imply the that balls have the same coverstock formula. Almost any cover can be made to appear similar in overall apparance by the right color and surface.

In fact, I believe that most manufacturers, if they decide to use the same coverstock formula, will go out of their way to make sure not only are they different colors but also different finishes. Both the SR solid and the Cell solid are both finished at 2000 grit Abralon.

In general, if they look alike, the odds are nowhere even close that they are  even near to being similar.

If one is pink and the other is black and blue, the odds are better that they are similar.

I didn't match up with the Cell and I am having very good success with the Dimension.  I gave the Cell to a friend and he is doing very well with the Cell.  My Son is doing very well with both the Cell and the Dimension.  I also think the Dimension is a little longer and a little stronger on the back end.

I wasn't compaing the Street Rod and the Cell.  I drilled the Street Rod because I knew it was weaker then the Cell and the Dimension.  But it looks like the Street Rod has the Cell cover with a weaker weight block.

So far as major bowling companies using the same coverstock on the smaller companies they make bowling balls for, I'm almost positve it happens.  A few years back I got a new Silver Diamond and the color markin and all the marks on the Silver Diamond were exactly like the Brunswick Battle Zone Bullet.  If you know both bowlng balls, the markinks were identical.  Not close, different color.  It was the Bullets coverstock on the Silver Diamond.

The Street Rod Solid uses Storm's old Reactor coverstock, which is noticably weaker than the cover on the Cell.  According to Storm/Rotogrip ball reps, the strength of the Cell's coverstock is very similar to Storm's R2X coverstock on the Dimension and Virtual Gravity.
