medium to dry
« on: November 09, 2013, 09:18:08 AM »
Thinking of some new stuff to cover the med.oil to the dry conditions.Thinking a 3 ball combo-Tour IQ Pearl drilled pin down below fingers. Lights out drilled pin up, and a Super Natural for the very dry. Have a V.Gravity for the Med Heavy(may replace with a Tour IQ someday). I am a med rev(300/350), 15mph, 50deg. axis rotation type of bowler. Just looking for a little input. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

If you want to stay with Storm, I would say that the Frantic or Freak'n Frantic are good options.  The original Frantic uses the same hybrid cover that is used in the Hy-Road and have found it to be versatile on medium and drier patterns.  Carry is really good and it's one of those must-have balls for me on league nights as the lane burns up quickly.  It can also be used on some heavier or flatter patterns if you keep the angles a bit tighter.

I don't have the Freak'n Frantic, but it is the pearl version of the ball.  Some others may be able to chime in with what that does.

On the Roto Grip side for medium-light, there is the Wrecker, which is similar to the Frantic except it goes longer and has a stronger backend.  The Rumble is their solid that will pick up a bit earlier but can be used in this case.  If you want a pearl, the new Up Roar is scheduled to come out soon.  Or, you can buy a Shatter on closeout.

Either way, there are a lot of good options out there from all of the different companies.

No, it's a replacement.
It's a little earlier and a little stronger (more hook, much more backend, relatively speaking) and handles slightly more oil. It's still for light to medium-light oil.

I would take a look at the new roto grip Up Roar. If it's anything like the Rumble, it will be a great ball for your desired conditions. Just sucks that it won't be released til January.
