Hy-Road vs Prodigy

Hello, 

 

Starting to build up my arsenal a bit more, currently I have the pure physics and a spare ball, but was thinking of maybe a mid ranged ball for my arsenal. I was thinking about either the Hy-road or Prodigy. Anyone know which one I should go to or if anyone had a problem with either of these two choices?

There isn't one that would be "better"...it depends on what you want the ball to do (or the shape you desire).  The Prodigy is a lower RG core and a textured pearl, so it rolls pretty heavy but clears the fronts clean.  The Hyroad is a hybrid but a higher RG core, so it is clean through the fronts with a more angular move downlane.
 
Both are great balls, just need to decide which shape you want.

I'm a stroker style player, getting it down the lane and into the pocket, but what did you mean by shape? Sorry language barrier =/

No worries, meaning what motion do you want the ball to make, or how quickly you want the ball to change direction downlane.  Both balls would fit well inbetween the ones you currently have, they just make a different move to the pocket.  One is a bit more angular than the other (Hyroad more than Prodigy).

Ohh I see..I'm not sure what is the best, but I know I was having problems with the physics yesterday because it wasn't hooking at all yesterday and someone advised I get a less hook reactive ball? So probably something like Hy-road?

Yes if the Pure Physics was burning up a little, then a Hyroad might be the ball that is a bit more "different".  The Prodigy is a pretty early rolling core, and might burn up a bit on similar conditions to the Pure Physics.  The Hyroad would definitely give you a little more skid through the front part of the lane.

You can't go wrong with 3-4 pin and 3ish ozs top weight.

Did you already order the hurled? I heard it was being discontinued, and replaced by the crossroads. The modern marvel is also coming out in the same line as the prodigy. In my experience, the prodigy is more of a upper mid performance, the ball is at a similar performance level if not a little higher than the pure physics. The hyroad/crossroads is the mid performance line from storm. It will be better when the lanes are dryer. It just depends what you need it for.

If you're getting it drilled for $125 it's either on clearance or in a shop with someone who sucks at math and shouldn't be running a business.  You should expect to pay about $180 or so plus inserts drilled.
