Hyroad X = Solid Piece
« on: April 09, 2019, 10:21:45 AM »
Now that i have finally thrown this a few matches since getting it, I finally can give some solid feedback. First off, I love this ball. It is somewhere in between skid/snap and smooth rolling. I am a huge fan of smooth rolling balls and the HyroadX gives me more pop on the back than my Web Tour and GB3 when i need it. I don't see a lot of over/under with this at box surface either, which is a huge bonus for me. I dont get along with polish that well. Rolled a 299 last week leaving a smashed 9 pin, ended that night with a 762 series. This will always be in the bag for sure.

I really appreciate this thread and the non-staffer opinions on this ball. My buddy just bought one and shot 644 out of the box, but that was one outing. I loved the T-Road Pearl but found the OG Hyroad with the exact same layout to be very inconsistent despite multiple surface changes. I was about to buy the X but now am having second thoughts! I need a new benchmark ball. A Blue Vibe might be calling my name instead.

Consider:

IQ Tour
Hyroad Pearl
Hustle Ink

Blue Vibe is also a good choice though.
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour

I did not realize there was so much negativity behind this one. All of the reviews i read on it were great. I didn't see any mentions of over/under. I rolled game one with it last night, managed a 223 with one open. Reaction was kind of wishy/washy but i managed, didn't see the extreme over/under but it definitely wasn't the right ball choice for the night. Switched to the Hyper Cell fused and had a better look, went 267 and another 223. Like i said before, I play right up the boards so I am anywhere between first and third arrows depending on the down lane reaction. I do not put alot of hand in it, but it's enough to get the job done.

I didn't have any problems with mine at first, it really liked straighter angles, or getting in really deep.  Otherwise on a house shot at like 3rd or 4th arrow . . the track for most people these days . . I had to have the right set of circumstances.  Wasn't that I didn't end up liking it, it was that I had something better in whatever look I was going for most of the time, and what the X is really good at never really happened much for me.  It's great in super garbage time when you need length and boom on REALLY toasty lanes, but I just never see that, most of the time I just ended up grabbing it at the bottom trying to get it to start up earlier because I was using it on wetter conditions than it was built for.

With the exception of I encounter some burn and find some use of mine, we have had the same experience with the X. Many times I feel like i'm forcing it to use it when an Idol Pearl allows me to relax and have a little more area at the break point. The X isn't bad, but it's been more a niche ball than I expected, but I find it really good at that niche (playing deep on the burn).
