Now that i have finally thrown this a few matches since getting it, I finally can give some solid feedback. First off, I love this ball. It is somewhere in between skid/snap and smooth rolling. I am a huge fan of smooth rolling balls and the HyroadX gives me more pop on the back than my Web Tour and GB3 when i need it. I don't see a lot of over/under with this at box surface either, which is a huge bonus for me. I dont get along with polish that well. Rolled a 299 last week leaving a smashed 9 pin, ended that night with a 762 series. This will always be in the bag for sure.

Interesting feedback. I have been urged to get one of these by my coach. The reason I held off is because I have yet to see anyone roll this ball with consistency.

In my neck of the woods this ball has been over/under hell by the three people I saw roll it! I'll continue to watch others, but to me the cover needs some shine taken off, just my take!

The more I throw this ball, the more I hate it. I loved the booming backend from it, but the window that I have at the breakpoint with it is the width of a bic lighter.

I was just thinking this. I threw this ball Sunday and it made a house shot look like the US Open. The way this ball stands up and quits (sometimes backs up) is uncanny. It is def a niche ball because when it’s working it’s great. I’ve had massive success on older synthetics and guardian. Anything that plays slick or is a slick surface don’t bother using this ball.

Agree with both of you,seeing the same thing. Balls looks good and then boom 2-8-10.
Very frustrating, now it belongs to someone else..

My 2¢ on the matter... The HyroadX will work well for anyone who struggle to get an IQ Tour (solid) to carry corner pins, in my opinion. The IQT being one of my favorite balls of all time. For the same reason if the IQT was money for you, the HyroadX may seem a little late and more sensitive to friction.

Personally I didn't use my X long before it was out the door. One paper I felt it would've fit my game very well being rev dominate but the hook phases didn't work well for me. Maybe if I would've went with a more aggressive pin than my standard layout 5" pin to pap 45 deg VAL.

Not strong enough for oil but too strong for friction. Weaker than an IQ Tour but stronger than a Hustle Ink... Bowling math looked good but an odd duck (for me). If you need something for fresh, transition, or friction I feel there's better options.

Sometimes those high RG and higher diff balls are..................something.

I do like my OG HyRoad, but I get what you all are saying.  When it's there it is but when it's not it's REALLY not.

Along with my Halo Pearl...frustration is building with this Hyroad X. I've had more times where it was unpredictable than I've I had where it was THE look. I had a similar experience with the INK, which is also a polished solid, moderately high RG. I'm thinking that category just doesn't mesh well with me.

just dropped the polished solids man.  they don't work much for me either.

however a sanded solid, the turmoil, seems to be money for me.  granted i don't like much shine on anything i throw

This has not been the case for most of my friends. One of my partners works in a Pro Shop and didn't keep his Hy-Road X for more than two weeks before he sold it! He said it was too hard to read!

If you don't have a problem with Over/Under and the Hyroad X, you either throw it dead between first and second arrow with no hand and medium speed.

Or your house shot is the easiest shot in the world. I haven't met a single person in love with this ball and I have 8 good friends on staff between Storm/Roto.

I will say, if your revrate is under 300 and you can keep it in a straight line to the target, this ball might be a good matchup.

I would trade my single drilled X for a NIB Plastic ball. No lie. PM me if interested anyone.

Did people like the Fire Road back in the day?  Maybe Storm should have went R2X hybrid or even pearl.

I really appreciate this thread and the non-staffer opinions on this ball. My buddy just bought one and shot 644 out of the box, but that was one outing. I loved the T-Road Pearl but found the OG Hyroad with the exact same layout to be very inconsistent despite multiple surface changes. I was about to buy the X but now am having second thoughts! I need a new benchmark ball. A Blue Vibe might be calling my name instead.
