I saw one being used by a bowler I go to tournaments with often. I know his game fairly well. This past weekend we were bowling the CA State Seniors tournament where he used this ball and it was one of the more over/under balls I have ever seen him try to use. He finally put it away and said, "I can't see that ball being much use to me".
He is a very accomplished bowler with a long string of 300/800 series. He averages in the mid to high 220's in three different houses for the past several years. His USBC Open Championships average is 201 and has shot a 300 game and has had 700+ series(multiple times) at the Open. This is just to say, dude isn't your typical house hack and is a legitimate bowler.
I had one drilled up and this is what I saw out of the box. Granted, I've only used it one game. The ball just went sideways off the friction and did nothing in oil. Our house shot has been a mess this year, at least in my opinion. Crazy back end. There's oil up front, so you do start getting carry down in spots. To make matters worse, they've been tweaking it recently. However, now it's back to what it was - not sure for how long. I thought it was great after one tweak, but people started to bitch about all the oil. Everyone wants big hook.
Anyway, back to the ball... At this point, I'm just going to blame that mirror gloss finish Storm likes to use. It's only been fine for me on a few balls. I'm going to knock the shine off and try it again later this week. However, this could easily be like the Daredevil Danger and Winner, where a lot of other people love(d) them, but they did not suit my game at all.
