Crux Prime Lane Shine
« on: March 11, 2019, 10:50:09 PM »
Hi All,

A few weeks ago I drilled up a Crux Prime.  At first I loved it.  Soon after I noticed it picked up lane shine, faster than any new ball I've drilled up before. While shined, the ball became very inconsistent for me, mostly skidding through the break point when I definitely did not expect it to.  Then I hit it with a fresh 2000 pad and it was back to being early and reacting consistent, but not for long, after a couple league games, it was back to being lane shined.  I would use it in practice and then half of game 1 and throw it back in the bag.  Then I lightly hit it with 1000 by hand, and it was back again.

Has anyone else had this problem with the lane shine and inconsistent reaction, and if so, are you hitting it with fresh surface weekly?

Thanks,
John

Every modern high end ball (any company) lane shines, and surface will need to be touched up frequently. The exact games varies as there are a lot of factors, ball returns, lane surfaces, etc.

I keep pads on me and we make it a point locally to try and educate people when they get a new ball, but you can only do so much.

My high end stuff I typically scuff them every 6-9 games again to help keep the reaction like new.

Agree, but interesting that at least one reviewer touted it as a ball that didnt lane shine To the degree many balls do.

Some storm balls have actually performed better for me with lane shine.  Virtual Gravity and Lucid come to mind.  Not sure the Crux fits that bill for me although I have been considering one.  Almost ready to drill up another Phase 2 instead.
