I hearby retract my previous post about the XXX-Factor!!!

I guess it was just me the day I threw it. I finally got some tape in the thumb hole (put duct tape in the back of the hole, works as good as the smooth black stuff) and have none in the front, but I like that. Well anyways, still drilled the same, pin under ring, cg swung out, and down from grip center, x-hole. Its not as flippy as I want, but still STRONGGGG!!! with some G's to spare! It is very speed sensative, but if you can keep it consistant the ball is a BEAST. I started bowling today at around 7:30 or so, and bowled 5 games. Stopped for a while, was hanging out behind the desk at the alley and got bored, so I got a lane turned on and threw another 5 games. By this time, the lanes were clearly drying up, and I found out how much better I bowl on a deep shot. Anyways, again, by the end of the night, I ended up standing on 45 (yes thats not a typo, i ment 45) layin it on 35, out to around 4-5 board. I am still going to get the ball redrilled to fit me, and since Im plugging it, Im gonna get it drilled stronger for the heavier oil. Basically the ball right now is a good medium oil ball, but after its redrilled it will hopefully handle more oil better. So all in all, I just wanted to say that the ball really is strong, just the day I posted the other thread, It was me having problems, not the ball. (as usual )

You either drift alot left or have the widest looping swing i've ever heard of.

that means theres 10 boards between your plant foot and your hand at release...so if your release happens to be a little closer to your body for whatever reason one day, youre going to think that your releasing it on 30, but it may very well be 33 or 34.  having your swing that far away from your plant foot only makes things harder if youre looking to be consistent.

i need to stop guestimating about these things. Truthfully, Im not sure. Maybe it wasnt 35, was just deep. Im sorry, I really dont mean to be ditzy haha.

just an idea...start paying more attention to your release point and breakpoint, and you iwll be able to decipher the lanes much easier...if you know exactly how many boards over your release is from your plant foot, adjusting your line becomes second nature...now all you have to worry about is exactly where to move.  keep it simple.

155 to 185 in 18 months...not too bad, vin.  now if only i could get you to stop worrying so much about equipment, and concentrate more on throwing it...

Best advice is stop buying equipment and get some lessons and keep practicing.
Learn to throw what you have instead of looking for the magic ball.
Once you have the fundamentals down and are a good spare shooter then you can start expanding your arsenal and get some equipment that fits well!!!!

If it doesnt feel right you can't throw it right.
Repeating shots is the key to scoring.

That may be the best advice given on this board...

Like in golf, a hack isn't gonna benefit from the best clubs.  Same goes for bowling.  If you can't throw it already, the latest Hooksalot 2004 isn't gonna make you better.

i appreciate that comment bob...all i see people do on this site is worry about the next great ball they need in order to be successful...meanwhile, every new piece of equipment they get only adds more variables to an equation that really needs to be as simplistic as possible.  hook monsters only produce when YOU make the shots to get it to the pocket...but the more hook you get out of a ball, which increases the amount of lane surface the ball must cover to get to the pocket, the harder it becomes to get it there.
