DO you find that if you don't hit up on the ball enough, or get under it enough, you tend to leave a ton of flat hits leading to 7-10 or 8-10 splits?
If I don't turn the cover off the ball 95% of the time the hit is very flat leaving me with one or two solid splits a game.

Yeah it must be......but I only belly the ball from 15 to 10 and back in the pocket. Maybe some there is some carrydown on the backend???

Lots of good points made there SL. I honestly haven't seen a stroker use the Too Hot in my area so it's tough to tell what it would do in there hands. But on most conditions I can totally see were the Hot Rod would work wonders and give you that extra pop that the Too Hot doesn't give you.
Yes...being heavy handed I loved my Too Hot and even with a some carrydown I could get hit out of it. I actually didn't like my Hot Rod...was too eratic for me. I have seen some power strokers use and it with less revs it's less sensitive to the oil transition.

I can turn it up with the best of them if needed, but I don't see a reason to rip the cover off anymore. So....I take it the Too Hot will hit inconsistently, just like my Buzzsaw XL did if not thrown properly.
My situation was just like SL said, string four or five strikes in a row....and WHAP a solid 8-10 or 7-10 flat as a door mat.

My other problem could be associated with trying to muscle the ball down the lane. When I relaxed and released the ball normally and put a nice amount of revs on the ball it would hit the pocket at a good enough angle to leave only ten pins. If I rushed or threw it faster it would hit sooo flat.

Good post Stormlefty. The way I throw a TH (stroker, d&i) gives me tons of 8-10s. Not enough ball (for me, anyway).

Ya but I wish that they left the TH in their line-up!! They can atleast come up with something to bridge the Hot Rod and Big Hit.

Overall I really like the Too Hot, except for those occasional flat hits. At least the way I throw it now....after another practice session, learning how weak it is....I saw some pretty pin action.
Now the Ultra Hot is something totally different....I can't figure it out just yet.
