INAVASION or REIGN
« on: February 09, 2010, 05:44:07 AM »
So i am looking for a ball to be my first out of the ball when i have to bowl on fresh 42-45 feet of oil sport pattern.

The ball below these will be the Ebonite mission, that i want to use when the pattern breaks down a little and i need something to go longer and more jumpy.

I used to be a Storm bowler ,hot wire, agent, rapid fire, spitfire, dimension, they all worked great for me..but the last balls,hy road and second dimension were ok nothing great,BUT the virtual gravity (a ball that almost everybody loved)was junk in my hands i tried everything in order of coverstock and nothing worked,so i am afrais that with the invasion i will have the same problem.

i throw 18.5 mph,410 rpm

thanks a lot

Jonah

I don't think the mission will work well as a step down ball from either of these for a house shot unless drilled to be alot weaker. Now on a tournament shot, maybe depending on surface adjustment and what not.

Hmm..Lets see what I have in this bag..A Reign of Fire, an Invasion, a Nasty Spider, and a green Avalanche.. how can I lose....

Depending on  the part of the lane you wish to play. On 42-45' sport I would say both balls are excellant choices.. but my personal opinion is Reign of Fire if your going to play more direct due to its super early roll and being very smooth on the backend.  Now if you wish to play a bit deeper and are looking for recovery then I would go with the invasion as that ball should finish more on the backend if drilled properly

For me the ROF was a better option. If you drill it to go long it has more flip than the Invasion, and if you drill it leverage or pin down it gets traction sooner. Save your money get a ROF.

And if i dont get the mission, can i get these two to make a 1-2 combo for what i want to do?
How should i drill these two,and coverstock preparation?...which one should be to roll early at fresh and which should have more backend when i want to open up the lanes and kick the breajpoint two boards to the right?
thanks

Jonah.. I am throwing both right now as a 1-2 punch. Check my drillings out at http://s647.photobucket.com/albums/uu195/tizzle08/Tournament%20Gear/

One thing to note is to make sure you have alot of oil for the invasion, or you will think you have a dud as it will burn up. The ROF is 3-4 boards with my feet weaker after the lanes have broken down some. With fresh lanes its more then that. There is lots of seperation between the two at box finish. I am actually debating on bringing my invasion down to 1000 and taking my ROF up to 4000 to increase that seperation even more, just worried that move might make the invasion burn up on anything but flooded conditions! The ROF is a dimension sort of roll.. meaning it will hook earlier then the invasion and make a more gradual move to the pocket, yet continuous. The invasion with the dual angle double thumb drilling I have on it, its all backend. If I were to compare to the breakpoint shape and length it would be the equivalent to my BW nasty but on steroids. I am very happy with the 1-2 punch and I am no longer looking for any equipment right now.. thats saying alot for me. Maybe a ball to go between my nasty and avalanche.. but nothing for heavy oil.. these two seem to fit me nicely. If you need any additional help.. pm me!
