Any need for something stronger than an Invasion?
« on: May 25, 2010, 06:10:14 PM »
I have an Invasion drilled 4" pin to PAP, MB around 5" from PAP. If I took it to 2000 abralon, would it be strong enough to handle any PBA pattern? I have around 290 RPM, 15-16 MPH ball speed. My friend wants my Bounty Hunter, and I''m not too sure I need it since I have the Invasion. Thoughts?

If 2,000 isn't strong enough, take it to 1,000 or 500. That should be strong enough for anything.

Yes that will be strong enough.  You don't have a lot of revs, but you also throw it slower which equals it out.  Just keep in mind that the more surface you put on it the less backend it will have because it's going to read sooner.  I'd try it at 4000 first and see what it does.  I just threw the Invasion the other day on the Shark and Scorpion, and the ball was pretty strong with the 4000.  With you slower speed I wouldn't go any lower then 2000 because you don't have the revs to keep hitting power in the ball, making it a little harder to carry.

Jesus, Jeff.

An Invasion @ 500 would be enough to plug the BP hole in the ocean.  That's about the only place there's enough oil for that ball at that surface...lol

Most people with 300 rpms will not be able to use an Invasion without polish.

What do you guys bowl on?  My rev rate is 300 to 350 depending on what I'm doing and how the wrist is feeling and I've used an INVASION at 1,000 multiple times and 500 a couple of times.

The Invasion should handle most PBA patterns for you without a problem, but that is no reason to abandoned the Bounty Hunter. The Bounty Hunter will give you a good 1-2 combo depending on the layouts and such.

Desert, sparking lanes, cheap owners who think just because they installed synthetics they no longer need to oil the lanes.

Last night I started a summer league. Good thing I brought the Brunswick Slide, never thought I would need it. Not only had to use it, I had to use a suit case release and increase my tilt to about 30+ degrees with an increase in speed AND STILL keep the ball inside the 10 board at all times.

I haven't used a medium oil ball in 2 years even on a PBA experience league last summer, where a Creature Solid was as strong a ball as I could use.

This will work as long as the pattern is heavy/long enough.  The problem with a stronger surface and slower speed is the ball won't last through the midlane causing flat hits.  I throw 16.5 max with 325-330 revs which is about equal to one another and I don't go under 1000 because it burns up too fast.  I tried the Mutant at 500 on the Shark and left five 8-10's in two games because the ball was DOA.  When the lanes are fresh you don't need as much backend, so if your are going to use a lot of surface (less than 1000) for an early roll, do it on something a little weaker like a Furious or Reign of Fire because the cores in these balls will keep them from buring up so quick.
