Skid/Flip Recommendations
« on: June 02, 2006, 01:40:47 AM »
Hi all. I have been very happy with the Storm balls I've used so far, but was looking to see if any of you out there can recommend a ball that will go long and then turn in to the pocket real late on the lane for a bowler with very low revs. Right now I throw about 15 mph, but my Diablo either moves too early for my tastes, or leaves a solid 10-pin.

Fired Up should complement your Diablo nicely and give you plenty of backend movement.

Fired up, Hot Rod SS Pearl are the two balls that come to mind, classic skid flip balls.  I own a HRSSP and it starts its move a few feet later than anything I've thrown.  The Fired Up is similar but a few boards stronger. I've also heard good things about the Hammer Raw Doom.

I haven't seen one in action myself, but I've heard that the Agent corners like a beast as well. I know the old Depth Charge flipped like crazy too, if you can still find one.

I second the Fired Up.  As far as I can see it is the skid / flip ball from Storm.

You may also want to look at the Screamin Banshee.  It goes a bit longer than the Fired Up.  If you think you need extra length the Screamin will give it to you while still giving you a reasonable snap in the backends.

I'd say you have three really good choices. If you want a Storm, go with the Fired Up. If you want something different from Storm, then either the Roto Grip Horizon, or Hammer's Doom would be good choices. All three are great bowling balls, and all three look good too, if that is a consideration. (For me...it could be pink, bronze, and teal and I would not care as long as it hit the pins hard and took them down!)
