Intense Fire - under appreciated or dud?
« on: March 27, 2019, 02:09:40 PM »
I'm not sure if it's just me, but I rarely see the Intense Fire being used. Even when it first came out. Pretty much never see it in any sport shot tournaments, nor on the PBA. I have a feeling it'll get discontinued really soon. It also didn't really receive very good reviews.

Under what kind of circumstances would you think the Fire matches up well on?

I think it’s just more of a niche ball. Has easy length but doesn’t kick itself sideways at the breakpoint. I also think it’s close to the Halo Pearl.
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour

I started out not a huge fan, after taking it to 3000 it seemed to help the ball quite a bit. I would agree that it seems to fill a niche ball, when its working its fantastic but once that shot goes away it goes back in the bag pretty quickly.
Currently in the bag(s):
Idol
Idol Pearl
Phaze 2
Hustle Ink

I agree, when the shot is there for this ball, it is awesome!  The window is pretty small though and ends up back in the bag after a few good shots.

Very disappointed in mine also.  Just such a small window to use the Fire for me. Changed surface a few times but really doesn't seem to help much. With surface ball hits weak and with shine it is a over under machine for my game.

Seems like both balls in the Intense line are/were pretty niche. It will be interesting to see if Storm goes ahead and releases a solid version or just scraps the line altogether. I would think it should be a 2020 release with the Crux Prime recently coming out, but who knows.

A solid Intense would probably be the best ball of that line. Not like the bar is set very high though.

Hey, what is that an Xfactor Hybrid?

Just kidding! However, I have seen that ball at my house.  A great house for righties, Lofters, and spinners to mute the wet dry.  Recently this wiley old lofter/fluffer started off his first two games with 5 out of 6 the first and the first 6 second.

The center is just dying for someone to smooth out the wet dry  and his loft and slightly broker wrist did it again!

As the beer kicked in and the age got to him hs slowed down from his 750 pace to a 690.  I thought the ball looked great!

Personally, I not very successful with Hybrids on the left as the wet/dry in centers near me is times 3 of the right, I almost thought this one was smooth enough to try.

Sincerely,

For me the strong assym pearl, "window" to be used is very small... I bought nearly every one that was released, and thought I really liked them.

I enjoyed how weak the no rules pearl was though!!!!

I but then I tried some other stuff and I'm glad I don't spend $175 on stuff I never use, instead I pay $120 and I can use it all the time, practically.  I'll let you guess what pearl assym im talking about. 😂
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

i think this ball is all about drilling.  mine was never weak.  another guy in my league has one, lefty  two finger bowler.  he said the original drilling he had on it, ball would never react, but when he had it redrilled differently, it was a beast

Billdozer, Hmmm, is it a global 900?

Do you call it "Honey"?

Liked a very similar core in the Clutch years ago!

My Fire lately has been my go to ball on our Monday Night Trio League. Honestly it took a good number of games to really understand what this ball wants to do. Only recently have I really relied upon it for multiple sets. Speed plays a very important part for me when throwing this ball.

My best attempt to explain it is its quite lazy in the oil and wants to bide its time, once it hits dry it's a little slower to react then you would expect, it almost feels like it starts to speed up halfway into the turn like a race car driver or something.

I know it packs plenty of boards and has a great punch (I almost left 3 8 pins in a row 2 weeks ago) but if you can't let it finish accelerating coming out of that turn there are a lot of 10 pins in your future.

i'd have to agree with this.  and i'd extend it further.  anything in that high price point is going to be a small window ball.

i have 4 bowling balls in my current arsenal.  halo pearl, turmoil solid, hyroad live and after dark pearl(the cool purple one, not the stinky new one).  my after dark is used 60% of the time overall, and about 95% of the time when i bowl on a house shot.

it annoys my wife, why do i keep getting expensive balls when my cheapest ball is my most commonly used.  she doesn't quite get it

Impending and Bill Dozer!

Roaring out loud here!  TOOOO funny!

"Honey" does look great in our house by our righties!  (Of course what doesn't look great in our house for our righties!)  Laying around I have a similar to the 900 Global White Ice, an original Jewel! A little more high powered core! Undrilled.....hmmmm?

Sincerely,

Luckylefty
PS another very similar cored ball to the White Ice the Pyramid Blood Moon!
