storm torrent vs iq tour, are they the same essentially?
« on: April 08, 2018, 01:21:35 PM »
I pose this question not to prove they are exactly identical, because the numbers obviously aren't, but I am just wondering what is up with storm throwing everybody and their mothers core in the R2S cover and acting like they are massively different. If anybody has an Iq tour and a torrent drilled similarly, I would love to see what happened if you put the surfaces to exactly the same preparation, because my hypothesis is that they wouldnt show the difference in price. I keep hearing that the torrent "gets better with lane shine" which pretty much means once it levels out at the 4000 grit mark (that the iq is at), then everybody falls in love with it, which I dont think is a coincidence.

R2S balls feel familiar, but the Torrent and IQ Tour Solid are different balls, as are those two compared to the Code X.  Torrent is really smooth and even, Torrent feels more like a weaker Code X, IQ Tour Solid has a super round hard arc on the backend.  Familiar yes, could all 3 fit in the same bag, doubtful, but there are differences, just not really major ones.

Thanks Luke, love your videos and commentary! Could I also ask your opinion on hyroad nano vs torrent in terms of smoothness? I'm a hyroad motion guy to the core, and I was hoping they would keep the hyroad solid around much longer, but now I'm torn because they put the nano cover on it instead. Is the hyroad nano too snappy for benchmark motion or does it fit well with the other hyroads?

Nah, it's like a better Hyroad Solid.  Never knew when that ball was going to hook.  The Nano is an improvement for sure.  It's sharper than the Torrent, but most balls are sharper than the Torrent . .
