For those of you that are having duccess with the Intense, what are your specs or style and what kind of layout/surface combo? Seems better for people with tilt as it really does shape beautifully. But for people that have a bit less tilt and less rotation, it just stands up. Could just be what I've seen, but seems to be the case everywhere I go.

My tilt is 7 degrees or less and it looks great for me, it looks like I have a lot more tilt than I do lol because it revs up and just hunts for the 7 pin.  Just my usual layout, nothing crazy or special and never changed the surface.  It's just too stupid for words for me.

My experience is similar to what OP has seen.

If I use a lower tilt release, it just stands up and pukes.
If I focus on using a higher tilt release, it comes to life.

I’ve had a few nice sets with the Intense, but I have a hard time justifying a spot for it in my bag. It’s about as release sensitive of a ball as I’ve ever had.

Lower tilt for me. Generally more up the back release. I did drill mine with a higher pin, so I'm not super surprised with how the ball reacted. Very over/under for me. Tried it at box and at lower grits. I've seen others throw this ball though, and it seems like much the same. Skids too much in the oil and too responsive off the friction.

A lot of people bought this ball around here. Seeing less and less of them being thrown as of late. A lot of them being sold off. I sold mine to a two hander. Haven't noticed him using it. Wouldn't be surprised if he dumps it as well.

I have mine laid out 4x4x2 per Storm’s layout guide, and I have it box finish. I haven’t found release to be the issue for me. For me, it’s makkng sure I have enough oil for it. The Intense is crazy strong even though it’s pearl. For me, it’s good from in deep, but I have to have a lot of oil up front to get it down the lane. When I do, it makes the pocket huge. As such, I’m thinking a lot of people are seeing it stand up too soon because they aren’t giving it enough oil to retain energy.

I feel the same way.  I can't use it in one house I bowl at because it burns up and pukes all over the place.  The more oil there is, the better it looks.  It's insanely strong and if you don't have the oil for it, it's going to look awful.

Mine was very over/under in box.  When it sniffed a touch of dry... Goodbye.  Move further left into the oil and skid.  I hit mine with a worn 4000 grit Abralon...  and it didn't change the shape much, just delayed it.

I've found that increasing speed and playing straighter up the lanes is how this ball rolls best for me.  Just an absolute beast on fresh.  Surprisingly, I can keep moving in and keep the speed up as the lanes transition.
