IQ Tour Nano "Fail"
« on: January 09, 2019, 01:52:18 AM »
Why did this ball leave the market so soon? A stronger IQ Tour to handle heavier volumes of oil sounds like a win to me. And a few years after seeing the Tour Nano being discontinued, we've seen Tour like balls with stronger covers released by other companies. When the Tour Nano was out, I thought it looked amazing. Curious on others thoughts as well.
League: Pitch Purple, Destiny Magenta
Testing: MVP
Interests: Black Widow, Proof Solid, Idol Pearl

Never tried it. I was in my extended break from bowling during its release time. I love my IQ Tour though so I’d like to try the Nano.

Good question ..... I have a iQ Nano that I use quite often. It's one of my better balls.

I think the reason it may have been killed so quickly is it is not a stand left - throw right ball.  It hooks, but its more control oriented.  It KILLS short patterns.  I've seen quite a few recreational house bowlers buy the ball and hate it because it won't jackknife sideways at 50 feet.

Too much overlap with the regular solid. Plus the low diff core/strong solid cover didnt mix well I presume.

In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

Also, storm discontinues based on sales. If it's not in "like the top 12" selling storm balls--they discontinue it

I had one but as BeerLeague stated, it was a control oriented ball and just didn't stand out on a THS.  Reaction was good but carry was nothing special.  Many other balls out there that just seem better.

Well, I am going repeat what has been already been said in this thread; it is not the big backend ball that most THS bowler want. The Nano coverstock needs to have solid oil coverage in the heads and mids to be most effective.

I have an IQ nano.  still use it occasionally as I have a different layout on it than my IQ Tour.

It is a good ball; threw a 299 with it at our USBC state tournament to put the team well into the money.

The IQ nano is more condition specific.  I can throw the tour on just about anything I want; the nano needs some oil in the heads or it starts to burn energy early.

I find the IQ nano a good compliment to my PhysiX
