New Storm Agent
« on: March 30, 2010, 04:40:12 AM »
I discovered a new in box agent at my local pro shop.  My only concern is it has 4.5 ozs. of top weight.  What storm ball in the current line would compare to it and while I'm ok with drilling over the label, is it conceivable to drill out 3-3.5 ozs. of tw out of the the ball with 3 holes?  Thanks

USBC specs allow for up to 3oz of topweight, so you should be fine. Depending on grip type and size and core design, you typically remove 1.5-2.5 oz of measured topweight on a label drill.

Hi may i ask what does "drilling over the label" and "label drill" means?

and what relation is that to top weights?

Is this a serious question or sarcastic?

4.5 oz of top is beautiful specs. I wish I could find a 16 agent like that.

Serious question. I ask what i dont understand.

O thanks Lilen for that link. So the label drill is something i already know, i was just thrown off with the TS phrase of "drilling over the label". I just didnt understand the post.

Does it mean that other layout will remove a different amount of top weight purely due to its positioning of the holes?

well since i am at it, is it called the "label drill" because it ends up on the logo/label of the ball?

its called "label" because in the older days drillings would typically fall right over the label of the ball. Thats how it got its name. Today, a "label" drilling does not always necessarily fall over the actual label of the ball.
