RoF Surface Changes?
« on: March 02, 2010, 11:41:14 AM »
Has anyone tried smoothing out the box surface of a RoF for use as a benchmark ball or more of a medium oiler? I have a pin down Invasion I'm happy with as my heavy oiler but I'm looking for something to push a little further down lane. So, any success with the RoF @ 4000ab or polished?

4000 abralon gets this ball going real long with the same smooth continuous reaction. Britton and I did surface change on the ROF on our videos. www.videoballreviews.com  check it out and you will see the difference in reaction shape

def try diff. surfaces on the rof its a great ball but ofb it does set up very early. I hit mine with 2000 and absolutely love it still sets up in the mid lane but very continuous on the back end.

I took mine to a 2k surface, because in box condition the ball was hooking in my backswing lol jk,, the ball in box condition seriously would hook-out at about 30ft and just go straight.

But @ 2k, the ball gets down the lane very nice reads changes in the oil and still has alot of pop in the back.

Well Dave, half that hook in the back swing has to do with the 600 revs at 9 mph...LOL

I took mine to 2000, gave me about a foot more length, with pretty much the same reaction shape just a few boards less total hook. I did not like 4000, just a bit to much length. Overall, 2000 keeps most of the original potential, but just makes it a bit more user friendly. Good luck and I hope this helps.
