fire road v.s. crossroad
« on: July 11, 2012, 10:07:03 PM »
Just a simple quick question. Will the fire road be stronger than the crossroad with the same layout and surface prep? Any staffers care to chime in or anyone who has both. Thanks in advance.

Earlier? Yes. Stronger in the back? No.

I have them both drilled the same, and both at the same out of box finish, and the FireRoad changes direction harder, but rolls, compared to the CrossRoad that has more of a hard arch with continuation. Pin over ring, cg on grip line, no hole(5"pin x 5.5" cg). The more oil up front, the more the FireRoad wants to change direction. The less oil, the quicker it slows down and smooths out. I will be posting my full review sometime next week.

Check out our review.  We had cranker, tweener, and stroker throw each ball and we compare them with Digitrax.
Reaction varied quite a bit depending on the bowler, but generally, the Crossroad is a bit cleaner (longer by a foot or so) with more entry angle.  The Fire Road has a stronger cover in the R2X, even though it's pearl so it adds some more traction than the Crossroad.  That doesn't mean it isn't capable of plenty of backend.

Video, review, and Digitrax:

Monster Stitch, yes the Fire Road would fit in between the VR Solid and Crossroad.  I think there is a bit of overlap on each end if your arsenal was made up of those three balls.
