IQ Tour AI Review
« on: March 13, 2025, 12:59:38 PM »
Layout: 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2
Surface: 3000 Abralon
Rev Rate:  470
Tilt: 13*
Rotation: 60*

The new IQ Tour AI is a brand new IQ Hybrid not seen since the IQ Fusion.  The C3 Core is brought back this time with AI technology and is paired with the R2S Hybrid Coverstock traditionally finished with Power Edge Polish.  Due to my ball speed and typical 44ft house pattern, I don't get a chance to use the IQ Tour line very often.  I brought the IQ Tour AI ball down to 3000 grit to promote earlier roll for the conditions I am typically on.

On my typical league pattern on the fresh, I saw a lot length out of the ball and a pretty angular backend motion.  On 44ft, a lot of length early on is not ideal and did not provide a good look on the fresh for me.  As the lanes started to dry up in the front, I was able to see earlier roll and more midlane read that kept me closer to the pocket utilizing the same line as the fresh.  Compared to the IQ Tour Solid, I saw a lot more length out of the Tour AI even with the surface change.  It would certainly be a second or third ball out of the bag for me on medium to longer oil conditions.  What was ideal about this ball was that it allowed me to stay further right with my feet and closer to the friction line which helped me eliminate the over under of the pattern.  For me to use the Tour AI on my house pattern, I would need to use more overall surface to get the ball to slow down similarly to bigger balls in my arsenal.  I definitely would recommend this ball to those who bowl on a more traditional 39-42ft house pattern with less oil volume where they use balls such as the IQ Tour or Ion Pro.  In my opinion, there are better options in the line for heavier volume and longer oil.  This could work on the fresh if you see a lot of built in friction but would be most ideal in a second or third ball down on most conditions.

TESTING ENVIRONMENT
Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): House Shot
BALL: Storm !Q A.I.
Coverstock: R2S Hybrid
Core: : C3 Centripetal Control Core
Finish: Power Edge
RG: 2.53 (14 Pounds)
Differential: 0.036 (14 Pounds)
MB/PSA: NA (14 Pounds)

ME:
Right-Handed Tweener
Speed: 13-14 mph
Rev Rate: 210
PAP: 5 1/2 right 1/4 up
Ball Layout: 5x4x2.5

What do we have here…..A new !Q. These balls have stood the test of time. There have been a number of past releases that have been in the benchmark spot or higher. This is going to be a little different as !Q’s and HyRoad’s have always been for the shorter/lower oil volume or burned up lanes. Let’s even take this ball to a new bowler as well. Now for performance and even though this is a lower end ball there is still a lot of performance. I used this ball after league because sometimes the Power Edge goes way too long and on other balls I take it off, but this ball looked way differently and I was able to have more miss room and hold than I did during league that night. As you can see from the video there was miss and hold and the ball was still enough to strike. This ball has given me a lot of confidence when I am in later games and they are dried up. This ball will be in my league and tournament bag.

I drilled the new !Q Tour AI 4.75x4.5x2.  This layout is one of my favorites as it gets the ball to change direction quickly for me.  This ball features the famous C3 AI Core inside the equally famous R2S Hybrid Cover.  This re-make of the !Q Fusion is more than likely going to be the most popular release of the year! This ball gives me a clean motion through the front and the middle of the lane, retaining enough energy to have that patented !Q motion down lane.  This ball fits in the ball 3-4 range for me in a tournament bag.  I highly recommend picking one of these up!

The newest ball from Storm is the IQ Tour AI! When you hear of a new IQ bowlers get excited.  My personal favorite of bowling ball of all time is Storm IQ Tour Pearl (Gold Ball). So I have always been a big fan of the IQ series.  Plus this new IQ Tour as the AI core technology which is huge plus!  I drilled mine 4.5x 4 x 1.75 pin up.  I have drilled all the IQ tour and to me the IQ Tour AI is the strongest down lane.  With the R2S Hybird Coverstock and the AI this new IQ is just one of those ball you put your favorite drilling on this ball and go strike!  For me I really can't miss too far right and not hit the pocket on the house shot.  When the medium balls start to bog down a little like the Idol series, Rock Star, and the bigger asymmetrical balls it is perfect time to switch to IQ Tour AI. Plus the IQ Tour AI has great shelf appeal with the green and black colors! The IQ Tour AI has a chance at Ball of the Year its that good!

How does a company like Storm take one of their best-ever-made bowling balls, like the !Q Tour, and propel it into the next generation of greatness? I think the answer is simple- they build success from success! And the new Storm !Q Tour A.I. is an excellent example of that philosophy. Storm has taken their proven C3 - Centripetal Control Core, combined with their score-rewarding R2S Hybrid Coverstock, and combined them with the striking power of Storm's A.I. Core technology. The result is the new !Q Tour A.I., another long-lasting ball to fit any straighter player's arsenal! So, let's take a closer look at what's behind the success of the !Q Tour A.I.
The C3 –Centripetal Control Core has always been a smooth, rolling, predictable core. In the past, as a straighter player, I could count on the C3 to deliver a smooth, predictable, and controllable motion for my straighter game. In the new !Q Tour A.I., I was pleased to see those same score-propelling attributes deliver the same consistency I look for in my straighter game. However, when you surround the C3 with A.I. Core technology, the new !Q Tour A.I. becomes an explosive striking machine, especially for my low–rev, straighter bowling style. The !Q Tour A.I. has an intense amount of striking power because of the A.I. Core Technology. And with that added boost to the C3 Core, I found outstanding continuation that kicked out the corners on my weak hits and tripped the four on those I came in too high. So, the C3 A.I. Core inside the !Q Tour A.I. is an excellent fit for my straighter low-rev game.

Storm couldn't have chosen a better coverstock than the R2S Hybrid to surround the !Q Tour A.I. The R2S Hybrid delivers some of the most consistent and reliable results; any straighter player would love them. I liked how R2S cleared the front part of the lane with ease. Following that ease, I liked how my !Q found smooth traction in the mid-lane, making my !Q Tour A.I. consistent and predictable all night. The R2S Hybrid Coverstock gave the !Q A.I. a clean turn-off of the pattern. And with the crisp response the R2S has with the factory Power Edge finish, I enjoyed a backend motion that was strong and predictable yet allowed my !Q Tour A.I. to unleash a significant amount of energy as it made its way through the pins. So, I found the R2S Hybrid Coverstock with the factory Power Edge finish makes the !Q Tour A.I. a ball any straighter low-rev player would love.

In closing, Storm has done an outstanding job creating the !Q Tour A.I.  I found the !Q Tour A.I. to be an excellent combination of Storm's proven success of the C3 Core and R2S Hybrid Coverstock and combining it with Storm's new cutting of A.I. technology. Straighter players and those who are rev-challenged will find the !Q Tour A.I. a fantastic ball that gives you consistent and predictable motion you can depend on and the striking power to keep you scoring. So, stop at your local Storm VIP Pro Shop today and see how the new Storm !Q Tour A.I. will fit into your arsenal! The !Q Tour A.I. is well worth the investment!

The !Q Tour AI is the newest addition to the !Q line series. For me the !Q Tour AI is one step above the !Q Ruby pearl. The R2S hybrid cover stock paired with the proven C3 Core with AI technology allows me more forgiveness when playing straighter on the fresh and deep inside on the burn. It feels like a stronger !Q Ruby.  I tested this ball on a 42 feet typical house pattern. As mid to low rev player l was able to stand right of center on the fresh and as far left as the 30 board on the burn without losing any carrying power.  This ball will be in my bag for league and tournaments.  Order one from your local pro shop today! My ball review videos are posted on YouTube channel Stanley Waite.
