IQ tour and Pitch Black that good?
« on: April 05, 2017, 06:43:27 PM »
Reading recent posts about these balls made me wonder if they are actually that good, that even the PB is hard to keep on the shelf.

I tried storm versions of urethane, the naturals, and I didn't like them. The Blue hammer is my favorite modern urethane and it's my main ball for leagues.

Of all the Storm balls i collected as a loyal fanboy.. only the Hy-road, Depth Charge, Eraser PBT?, and breeze were my favorites. the rest were okay...

May I really missing out on these two balls?

Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

I had many IQ Tours over the years but I will say the newer oils make it less effective on sport patterns. I think the Dare Devil Trick is a worthy upgrade from the IQ Tour if you need a control ball. Honestly I think the R2S Solid cover is getting a little long in the tooth to be effective on the newer oils.

Pitch Black is such a niche ball for most it's hard to justify unless you bowl a lot of tournaments on sport patterns. Just my two cents...

Sometimes, you actually make sense. Good analysis.

I have a slow to medium speed...So the IQ tour really does a great job for me, especially when everything hooks on me.

I haven't had a PB yet or have I ever owned a urethane.  It's on my hit list...
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]

Although I have a high rev rate, I find R2S to be really good for transition in most cases. But I do agree that the DDT is probably the way to go if you see heavier volumes.

Never had a pitch black.  Have had  natural, blue hammer and pitch blue.  I have made money with all of them, although they are really niche balls.  With my slower ball speed pitch blue is a better option than pitch black.

As for IQ, I have had it in my bag for 3 years.  Used it a lot on tougher shorter patterns, although I agree that it is much less effective than when I first got it.  I actually like the IQ 30 a bit better on s lot of patterns.

Its not even about heavier volumes, even modern day lighter patterns would be considered "heavier" just 3 years ago.

I'm jealous.... all I see is friction at houses I bowl on.
