Best step down from Marvel S
«
on:
February 22, 2014, 10:04:14 PM »
So I recently got the Marvel S and really like the movement and pin action, but was wondering what the best step down would be.
Currently balling down to my Frantic, which allows me to move about 5 boards right of where I throw the Marvel S.
The one side effect is I seem to leave more flat ten pins when i go to the Frantic.

I'd go with the Marvel Pearl-I know it's a little older, but still good.

The Marvel-S/Marvel Pearl are a good combo. If you're going from the Marvel-S to the Frantic, that is a pretty big gap in my opinion. I'd go to either a Reign On or Hy-Road. Another ball that could be considered is Roto Grip's Asylum. Either of these three balls would balance the gap a bit more.

i used to use a 2 Furious with the Frantic, is that still too big of a gap?
i have thought about the Hy road, after all it has been around forever.

Just picked up a Mavel S as well. For my league shot, my "ball down" has been the RG Berserk. I know it is a few cycles behind but sure is a reliable ball to throw.

Top of my bag is Marvel-S, IQ Tour Solid, and then Frantic.
If you're looking for a control piece for sport shot tournaments that's in between the Marvel-S and the Frantic, I suggest the IQ Tour Solid. House shots only, I suggest the IQ Tour Fusion.

Would IQ FUSION be a good ball below the MARVEL S?

Depends on shape you want. IQ Fusion is way more angular.
I screwed up by buying a Fusion with the intention of using a benchmark ball.
I still say another Marvel-s with polish or a Hyroad.

My step down from the Marvel S is either an IQ Tour solid drilled the same way and same surface, or a Disturbed with the pin slightly further from my PAP @ 4000 abralon.
An Asylum would also be a good choice if you want to widen the gap more than what the IQ Tour or Disturbed would give you.
