IQ TOUR NANO REPLACEMENT ??
« on: June 13, 2016, 08:59:35 PM »
Very sad to find out Storm is no longer making the IQ Tour Nano. Best ball I own. Mine is getting old. I was wondering if there is anything else out there that is close to the same reaction as the tour nano. Haywire is a possibility. Trying to find a Nano online but having a tough time. Such a great ball . Not sure why Storm would stop making them. Really smooth off the spot.  Like the IQ Tour but with more teeth.

HayWire has a stronger core but similar cover if not the same exact cover.

The Brunswick Melee Hook has a similar strength cover but stronger core also, Brute Strength has similar core but weaker cover.

Columbia has the Delirium Shock but I'm not sure how it stacks up. Gamebreaker 2 might be close

Discontinuing the IQ Tour Nano only to keep the Optimus Solid around is... questionable. But yeah, the Haywire is probably your best bet in the Storm family even if it might be a little stronger off the spot and not quite as smooth.

I'm not sure if it's true or not but I've heard the NRG Solid Nano coverstock and the MicroBite are the same thing.

I have an IQ Nano and a Haywire with the same layout. For what it's worth, I think the Haywire cover is stronger and the core produces quite a bit more flare creating two completely different motions for me. I haven't really matched up well with the IQ Nano but the original IQ Tour is one of my favorites and far more versatile so the Nano rarely comes into play.

Is it safe to assume that your Nano is drilled with the pin above the fingers?  If so; your best bet is to take a Haywire and drill it pin down.  The IQs had a low differential which equates to low flare.  My suggestion would be to take something like a Haywire or Gamebreaker 2 which flares more and drill it pin under the fingers to reduce the flare thus creating a closer reaction to the IQ.  OR........maybe look into a Arson Low Flare Solid and tweak the cover to closely match your Nano.

Arson Low Flare Solid has already been discontinued. I was looking for one last week; can't even find them on EBay.

This is why I love this web site. Great information from everybody.  I like the idea of a pin down Haywire to replace my IQ Nano. Not sure why Storm discontinued the ball. So many people still use them in my area. I know there is a new IQ overseas. Suppose to be a replacement for the Fusion. IQ Rising is the name. Hoping they bring it over to US sometime soon. Thanks for all the opinions.

You may want to look at the 900 Global "X".  the core specs are very close to the IQ Tour Nano.  Cover strength is the only possible difference, and you can tweak the cover to dial that in

I love my IQ Tour Nano and have the Haywire and Critical as well. The Haywire is a little earlier that the Nano and the Critical is just stronger in all aspects. I completely agree that a Haywire drilled a little different or wit a surface adjustment would be your best bet for a replacement.

I have the X as well and the cover is weaker than an IQ Tour, not even close to the Nano.
