Iq Tour Solid vs Nano Pearl
« on: September 26, 2020, 10:45:38 PM »
Looking for some advice.  Currently using a RG Winner Solid and Hustle ink.  Looking for something both earlier and smoother than the Winner so the Iq’s seem like a good way to go.  Was going to pick up a Tour Solid but then the Nano Pearl came out so now I’m conflicted.  I bowl at 2 different houses with fairly different shots and lane surfaces and I bowl on the occasional tournament. I am a lefty.  Ball speed around 18 mph and medium rev rate.  Thanks!

I would suggest the Nano Pearl based on your stats.  With that ball speed; if your rev rate was higher, then going with the Solid would be a no brainer.  Or.....if your ball speed was more like 16 with the medium rev rate I would say that Solid as well.  But at 18 mph, I think the added strength in the Nano cover would give you continuation help you wouldnt see with the Solid.  My fear is that the Solid would leave a lot of flat 7 pins on half pocket hits.

Luke Rosdahl will also be on here, as has done this comparison video on his YouTube page (As he is a fellow lefty now, coming from the right side).  Watch out for his comparison’s, or visit his channel for a side by side comparison.

You are correct twohands, as that has been my findings with the Tour Solid as well.

I appreciate the advice. Sounds like the nano is the way to go.  Some other considerations were the Idol Pro and Pro Motion but with both being discontinued by the time I’m ready to get something they may be hard to find.

Does it have to be in the Storm/Roto family?  If not, you could also look in to the Web Tour Hybrid from Hammer.  It is a new release.  Core numbers are almost identical and both lines fall in that mid performance catagory with low RG and differential.

Radical Bonus is a good option as well.

I prefer to stay Storm/Roto just because they’re what I’ve had the best luck matching up with in the past.  I love my Ink and when the conditions are right the Winner is a great ball.

I'm not sure I would consider the !Q Nano Pearl smoother than the Winner Solid but it's not jerky off the spot either. If you can find a Pro Motion that's probably the best bet to do what you want but the Nano Pearl is really, really good too. That should be one of the most impressive balls released this season and maybe including the past few as well. I'm a big believer.

Rethinking my plan all together.  Sanded my Ink to 3000 and squared everything up and it was honestly the best look I’ve had all year.  Shot 745 and 727 the last 2 nights.  Works all night unless I have some traffic on the left side so now I’m thinking electrify Pearl for when I need more length.
