is it true? cant be true
« on: June 03, 2005, 06:18:03 PM »
so i was convo with a pro shop guy and he was telling me that storm was just sued by lane 1 for the use of the new fired up core. lane 1 claims that the shape of the core is diamond shape. now in my eyes that core resembles a puff ball not a diamond.

so what i wanna know is if this is true and if so what was the outcome. gimme all the junkie stuff like lane 1s claims and so on.

And the Kryptonite was removed from production for the same reason as the Renegade or that other ball that Revolution had since they BOTH had diamond shaped cores...

You'd sure hate to see a ball that retailed for $30-70 less than another ball with similar results.  If that were the case, who's got the patent on the pancake weight block?  I'm hopiing to see a weight block shaped like a jack.  Not the jack that you use to prop up your car, the ones in the kid's game you play with a ball.  Put different densitied materials at the eand of each point of the star to adjust core dynamics and, voila!

How about the red wolf and clear wolf?  That core was jack shaped.

The Wolf line from a altered Robby's Axel core.  Turn it 90 degrees and modify the ring and there you go.

Wow, don't you think lane 1 already has enough money. I hate that how they patented the core shape. They can just be like, "well, if you cover this part and this part up and squint really hard it looks like a diamond."

i with lane bed and some kid on this one. the other day i got the chance to actually hold one of the diamond cores that L1 gave away at a demo for proshops to show to others for demonstrations and so on. well the thing looks as it does on L1's ball talkers. now you take the two and put them side by side...there's just no way they could even say storm took their 'ish.

totally two different cores and i really hope the judge clearly saw this and dismissed the case. i really hope storm did not have to pay out any cash to them overpriced diamond buzzin' biyatchess. i mean 240- for a ball c'mon, that a car note!

That is news to us.  We have a good relationship with our friends at Lane #1 and they have not contacted us in regards to the Twin V weight block.

Thank you for your interest.

Keep in mind guys that in order for something to be considered "different" under a patent system it has to show a certain % of difference. I think it's 20% overall difference.

The Renegade/Vengeance (forget which it was) and the Kryptonite were not different enough to be considered different.

Perhaps this is the same case. If you take a vertical cross-section of the core it does kind of look like the Dirty Bomb core.
