Someone said it was very similar to the core used in the electrical storm from the mid 90's.

  I'm not sure, just what I heard.

Shapewise it is, but the numbers are a little different.  It is also similarly shaped to the overall shape of the X-Factor core, just without the different density layers.

This Is a New Core Shape FOr storm You can see Similarities To other Cores Like the atomic Charge But Im told ITs a new core shape For storm

Sorry... I'm not buying it.  Not even close to any Charge line ball.  I've read Storm's write up on the Jolt's and really don't see any MAJOR difference in shape compared to the Electrical Storm.  Yes, the numbers are different in the differential range, but only by .005.

My Storm rep told me at the trade show it was the electrical core
