Special Agent cracked

Got my Special Agent yesterday, and couldn't wait to have it drilled.  Took it in today, (actually my wife did as a favor), and when my driller went to drill it, a large piece cracked off of it.  Said he will call Storm Monday to see how we're going to handle it, not quite released to distributors yet so may be a short wait to get a new one.  Damnnn!!!, lol, still can't wait to get it on the lanes.

I know the feeling!!!  I drilled an Agent specifically for a tournament only to have it develop a 4-5 crack overnight...

...Storm did replace it, but we didn't have another one to drill for the tournament.  Still love my Agent though (even with the second one having had cracked slightly).  

Sometimes it's just a bad ball / batch...it happens.

What's the problem with Storm lately.  I have had several new balls "JUST CRACK" for no reason. 1/8" and long...beans

I got my Special Agent on November 9th and have probably throw around 40-50 games with it without any issues.  Maybe you just got ahold of a bad one, they do exist.

Is it me or does every new release Storm has cracks??? The Paradigm cracked, the Passion cracked, etc. After a few months they seem to get the problem sorted out.

All manufacturers have various problems and just one ball does make mean there is a problem with them.

I havent had one crack on me either but, it seems there are alot of posts on here about cracking when Storm comes out with something new. I am not saying anything against Storm, I am just making an observation.

I am pretty sure I have seen posts about balls cracking on every ball manufacturers' forum on here.  

Example:  Someone will say that they will never hear of a Hammer ball cracking, and then two days later I will read a thread on a Hammer ball cracking.

I didnt say other companys stuff didnt crack did I????? Well, did I??

Everyones does at times but, it seems Storm has had possibly a bit more than their share of bad luck for a few new releases is what I am saying.

Would anyone else like to put words in my mouth????

Hehe... I didn't put any words in your mouth but it seemed like you were taking the Paradigm's old (fixed) cracking problem and applying that to isolated incidents.

I was just saying this isn't just a Storm problem.  Of course, because of the Paradigm, I think there is a different perception here.

If a large piece cracked OFF the ball, the driller might have pressed down on the ball to hard with the drill bit. This is the most overlooked thing when people think that the ball is defective. It is very important that a driller takes their time, especially with the covers that these companies are making nowadays. Storm will replace the ball no matter what, but must send the one that is cracked ASAP. Good luck with this ball. The Special Agent is very smooth rolling and easy to read.

If i'm not mistaken wasn't the passion's release date pushed back due to a cracking problem.

Haven't thrown storm in awhile but I use Roto Grip stuff.

My first Battle cracked at the bridge 6 frames in had to stop using it in the 8th as a piece came out. The shell at the bridge area was pretty thin.

Got another one to replace it from the shop. After about 10-15 games the bridge cracked again.(Plugged and redrilled it).  I wouldn't stop throwing a companies equipment because a couple balls cracked. They fix the problem and satisfy the customer. The balls they make are still good and worth getting.

I have seen some other companies balls crack. But it does seem that a few high end releases from storm have had cracking problems. Seems like it is the anticipated releases. Paradigm and the passion were highly anticipated, not too sure about the special as I've been preoccupied the last few weeks with moving to Edmonton, AB.

Thanks for the help.  Good a time as any I suppose, since no scratch league this week due to Thanksgiving.  Can't wait to get this one on the lanes and compare it to my Double Agent, and Epic Saga.  As far as the cracking issue, I know Storm has had a few issues, and other companies as well.  While it is a bit frustrating, as long as the company takes care of the customer, that's the most important thing.
