Just bought a Diablo..
« on: November 05, 2007, 12:20:52 PM »
What should I expect.. Seeing that it is Solid Reactive, what should I do with it? I mean I have plenty of other stuff that fits the bill, but what will this ball do for me?

18-20 MPH
375+ Revs
Pap is 4 inches over and 1 inch up..

Looking for something that can move downlane..

I have one it is drilled strong and I put it at 180 grit then used rough buff and it is stronger then any other ball I own right now including total nv and fury. Ball carrys good.

Same core as the Fired Up (and basically the inverted core from the Spit Fire/Sure Fire), correct?  If so, it's going to be a pretty strong ball I would think.  Not a heavy oiler, but on medium to medium-heavy I should think it will rev up in the middle of the lane a little and have some good pop on the backend.  It should also do a good job of keeping the pins low and carrying off lighter hits.

Hard to say for sure though -- I've actually never seen anyone throw the Diablo.  I've seen pretty much everything else in the Fire line except that ball.

This has been one of my top balls for several years now. Core is same as FIRED UP. Cover is solid version of FIRED UP. I usually use it with about 2,000 Ab surface. It has been a big part of several PBA regional wins.

Think why some posters don't like it is it's nothing fancy - doesn't make a giant move of any sort like a SPECIAL AGENT.

I usually use it on house shots where SPECIAL is too much and a little control is needed. Also is good on tougher shots where the key is to keep the ball on a straighter line with no major moves.

From the few Diablos I've seen rolled around here, Riggs is right on with his assessment.  The ball is smooth rolling, hits well, and doesn't do anything visually impressive on the lanes.  Works well when having to keep your angles at a minimum.

BTW, nice bowling this past weekend Riggs.

I have to agree with Riggs, this ball would have a place in anybody's arsenal.  I have mine drilled with the pin just off the ring finger with the cg straight down from that.  Before abralon I kept the surface at 1200 grit sanded.  This ball has won me 4 matches at the Master's the last few years.  It will allow you to keep yourself in play, and have a some room to miss right or left without the big change in direction.

My Fired Up is the same way, with a different surface.  If I have a look with the Fired Up, it's over.  The ball is that good.

  STORM ON!

Not trying to be rude, but Riggs would for sure know since he is on their staff.  Awesome bowler who deserves to be inducted into the USBC Hall of Fame.  Check out his statistics on Storm's website.  To top this all off, he's one of the nicest guys in the Midwest region!
