Looking to get one of these two. Any comparisons?

Lock is a better ball in my opinion. More strength, more continuation.

I'd get the Lock too. I haven't really seen many people that liked the Sinister and were able to throw it a lot.

The Menace has become a bigger hit and seems to be a better core/cover match than the Sinister

I'm better off with the sinister, hate the menace.  However, I want the lock too :)

The Lock looks like a good ball, but I've seen lots of high-end players absolutely killing it with the Sinister. From what I've seen, the Sinister is a bit cleaner up front and is a bit stronger down the lane. The Locks that I've seen thus far seem to pick up a little earlier than the Sinister, and they're a bit smoother off the spot. I think the Lock can handle a tad more oil (if both are drilled the same and kept at box surface). I think that they're probably both good in their own right. It's just a matter of what you want the ball to do.

I have both. IMO the Lock is much, much better. The Lock has better carry, and a much better roll vs the Sinister. I have changed the cover on my Sinister a few times and still don't get the reaction as I do with my Lock. I did make one cover change to the Lock, I went from oob to 2k with polish.Since then, it has been the best rolling ball I have had in a while ( at least for me). The Sinister, maybe if I had a different layout on it, would it roll and finish better? I don't know. All I can say is the Lock is in my bag, and first ball out. My Sinister is in my basement and its up for sale.

Keep in mind, ladies and gentlemen, it's all about matching surface and layout to bowler and conditions a ball is used on. Sure, some balls seem to match up for just about everyone; others take tinkering in order to match up. Just because a ball doesn't match up for this person or that person doesn't mean that it's bad. There are very few bad bowling balls out there these days. In just about 99.9% of the cases, it's just about a bad matchup.

I agree. I am not saying the Sinister is a bad ball. I just get a way better reaction out of the Lock. For someone else, it may be the opposite.

I just got the sinister but I feel it is the best ball I have ever owned already. I bought it as a ball I can move left and create enough angle to carry.

Billdozer, why do you hate the Menace?

I think I need to play with the surface. Lane shined faster than any ball I have ever owned, that I can remember, within reason.

I agree on the lane shine. Every Menace I've seen looks polished and none of these people like to polish high performance balls.

Not much to add here other than to say I love the Sinister.  I have had it for about a year now and it really matches up well with my game and house shot. Able to play down the boards with it or move deep (relatively speaking) and swing it out.  I seem to carry fairly well, better than some of my other RG stuff.

Busted my sinister out for games 5&6 as its not terribly strong..its smooth.  Needless to say I only missed 4 times during those 2 games...

Need to stash one away :)
