Ball for the wife
« on: March 12, 2014, 11:43:08 AM »
Hi all. Just looking for some input on a ball for my wife and she'd like something Storm/Roto. She has a Tropical Breeze pearl (2013) and her Green/White Misfit and needs something to go above the Misfit. Because of her slower speed (11-12) id consider her rev dominant and she comes around the ball quite a bit so alot of side roll. She really likes the IQ Tour Pearl and the Freakn Frantic, but I just want to get something that will work for her. Oh and she throws 14lb. Thanks for any input.

Both of those balls can have violently quick reactions to dry.  With her high rotation and rev dominance, I would lean more to the solid/hybrid side of the lineups.  The Freakn Frantic, even though it is hybrid, is very sensitive to the dry.

Reign of Power or Hyroad from Storm.  Uproar, Disturbed or perhaps Asylum from RG.

But ultimately, your pro shop should be the best resource for choosing.

Thanks for the input. She loved her Maruader and Rising Star so Hybrids definately seem to work for her thats why I thought maybe the Freakn Frantic. Is the Wrecker stronger than her Misfit? We'll be seing our driller today so i'll definatley get some input from him as well, just thought id post up and see what people had to say.

I believe the Wrecker, though not as snappy as the Freakin Frantic, is still a little snappy.  Is probably just a hair stronger than the Misfit it total strength and a little snappier.

Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Be sure to ask your driller about the Uproar as well.   I haven't thrown it but it seems to me that it would be below the Asylum and above the Tropical Breeze.

The reason I recommended some stronger pieces is because from my experience, the Misfit isn't exactly weak.  Your wife has a definite progression from the Misfit to the Breeze.  Having a ball just a little bit stronger than the Misfit doesn't seem practical, especially on a THS.  But she doesn't need anything stronger than mid-level, that would be too big of a jump in my opinion.

Makes total sense and I appreciate the help. After talking to our driller tonight he recommended a Diva Pearl or possibly a Yeti Untamed. My wife had the original Diva and didn't get along with it, too much mid lane and it pretty much would just puke on her unless there was a lot of oil. Im gonna wait till next week to order her a ball so any other suggestions would be great!

Go with a Radical Grease Monkey, you won't regret it! As an owner of a such a ball, it hooks like a "tamed down" Yeti Untamed.

This sounds just like my wife, assuming your wife's speed is measured at the pins.  For medium to medium-heavy THS on synthetics, she has had very good luck with a 13lb. Crossroads drilled pin up and left at OOB surface.  It always seems to make the turn and finds the pocket for her, so much so that I've thought about getting one also.
