Anyone that has thrown the lock how do you like it and what conditions is it good on?

I just picked mine up and used it for the first time yesterday. THS shot so far--I really like how the ball rolls. At least for me it has a smooth but strong move. I like that I have some error room with this ball (within reason). I kept it oob so far but I may move the surface down to 2k. I was leaving a few 10's. But since I only have a few games on it, I wont make a drastic change just yet. If I keep leaving them I will change the cover. I need a few more games to get the exact read on the ball, but I like what I see- so far.

I wanna know how it compared to the Hyper Cell. Wish someone could compare it to the Critical Theory too but I doubt that will happen.

IMO -- I believe that the Hyper Cell will be a better ball for conditions that have heavier head oil, because that ball will burn up when their isn't enough and leave flat 10's (at least for me it does) --- I don't believe the Lock will burn up as much, but I am not sure yet. I am speculating. The Hyper Cell compared to the Lock does not have as much of back end movement as the Lock does for me. This could differ with lane conditions and rev rate. Comparing it to the Critical, IMO -- the Critical gets down the lane further than the Lock. The Critical was a pearl, the Lock is a hybrid. The Lock gets into a roll earlier in the the midlane, but both have strong backend movements.

I just received mine yesterday and am waiting to get it drilled. I will be able to give a good comparison to the critical theory once I throw the lock since I still have my critical theory and use it regularly. I bought the lock because the critical was getting tired and the lock's numbers look fairly close to the critical. I will update once I have thrown the lock. Only dislike for the lock so far is that smell...Idk what they were going for but mine smells like burned cookies or something.

Lock is a very strong ball [period].

Depending on style, it will determine how much play it can get.

Disregarding coverstock material, it is very much a current day Virtual Gravity. Rolly, large area to play with, and a continuous backend. RAD-X Core is serious business and the new GI coverstock match up ideally, and there is no argument from me with the slight price increase for what you're getting with the ball.

Watched a guy with 240 avg. throwing one last night. Much stronger than the Crux he normally throws.

Well I got mine drilled and was able to directly compare it to my (albeit moderately worn and oil soaked) critical theory. They roll nearly identical but the lock is roughly 10-12 boards stronger. Again that may be slightly due to my critical theory's age. I had both balls drilled the same (pin in ring and cg kicked out with weight hole on my pap). The lock was a beast. Nearly every shot that was in the pocket carried for me, even some of the sloppier ones. The only thing I couldn't do with this ball was miss left, even in the heavier oil down the middle the ball would just plow through it and go Brooklyn. It bounced well off of the dry but was more rolly than snappy. I also had to move my feet left often as it seemed to tear up a line pretty quickly. I very well may tame the cover down a bit by taking it to 4000 or maybe adding polish. My only gripe with the ball so far is the smell. Ginger snap smells more like burned cookies or something but it is not a pleasing scent. But smell aside, this ball is phenomenal and will be a staple in my bag in place of its tired older brother from another mother, the critical theory.

Sweet. I got a NIB Theory, infinite, and Critical... I remember a big difference in my first CT new vs. Now. I assume it's more like an arrow different.

The lock has to be about an arrow stronger...its 3000 right?

The one I saw "live" was a more even motion...skid hook roll were very even thoughout. Nothing seemed too early, nothing too much on the backend.

The CT originally made everyone look like belmonte, mine was especially kicked left on the backend.

BOTH look "stuck" to the lane..in a good way.

Another thing I noticed...the lock doesn't have the weird crux breakpoint...every crux i saw (unless u had 1 million revs) was very hookset. The no.1 thing that made me upset was I felt the lock was going to a repeatbof the crux, and everything I'm seeing says the opposite--which is awesome!

From what I've seen so far with mine the motions are extremely similar but the lock was just so much stronger. I actually think the backend motions are about the same in that the lock has a ton of backend. I was standing further left with the lock than any other ball I have thrown. When my CT was newer (I bought it used but like new condition) it definitely hooked more than it does now so the differences in strength may be less pronounced if you are comparing new to new but if my memory serves me correctly, the lock is still probably 5 boards stronger than my CT was new.

I agree with this --- the Lock is more of an even rolling/smoother transition compared to the Critical is a skid flip reaction.
