Reign layout help needed
« on: January 29, 2011, 12:59:07 AM »
I am trying to slot a Reign I picked up at a great price into my arsenal consisting of a 505T, Gravity Shift, and Tropical Heat Hybrid.  505T is drilled 50x4x40, pin just to right of ring with cg stacked.  Weight hole on PAP.  Gravity Shift is layed out 4x4x3, pin below and to the right of ring with weight hole on VAL below PAP.  THH is 5x3 with pin below fingers in between middle and ring, weight hole on PAP.

I am bowling on medium/medium heavy THS synthetic surface.  PAP is 4 5/8.  Have 15 degrees of  NEG tilt, 16.5 mph, rev rate around 375.  Basically would like a reaction different than the other balls.  505T for me is one huge arc, smooth but strong, early rolling.  Gravity shift is long, strong, and continuous.  More midlane than THH but very similar backend.  THH is slightly more angular than Gravity Shift and a touch more sensitive to dry boards.

Any suggestions are appreciated!  Thanks to all.

If I were you...

I would try a pin up drilling with the Reign.  You have some strong pin placements on these three balls (4, 4 and 5 inches, respectively).  I would try a like 3.5 or 4 inch pin, with like an inch of pin buffer from your VAL.  Point the CG towards grip center, put an X-Hole if needed, and just have at it.  The ball is naturally long and strong.  Exaggerate this with a pin-up drilling to have that sharp reaction to friction.  This should give you a very clean look through the heads, with a very strong hook when the ball exits the pattern.

Thanks for you help!  I probably do need something pin up in my arsenal.

No problemo.  Let me know how it works out too!  I have similar stats to you, and am looking for something more angular than my 2Fast.
