Went to my pro shop yesterday to drop a ball off for plug n re-drill, then I saw a Storm Marvel Maxx 2 and the "ball whore" in me said I had to have it.  I didn't get it drilled (this will sound bad) because I didn't know anything about the reaction/strength of the ball.  I have looked at the tech specs on Storm's website, but it doesn't tell me much.

Anyone familiar with this ball and can provide some insight into what this ball might compare to with other modern equipment?

Personally the best ball the Storm has ever made succeeding the original Marvel Maxx... the Maxx is essentially a Marvel S that gets further down lane and is bolder off the spot. The Maxx2 shares the same exact cover as the original Maxx but is finished at 1500polished (Maxx is at 4000grit). Don't miss out on the opportunity to get one if you can...

Should I be concerned that the Marvel Maxx 2 isn't listed on the USBC approved ball list?  Usually they have a ball listed on there before it is released.

It is kind of odd considering the USBC Approved logo is on the box.  Does it have "USBC Approved" engraved on the actual ball?

My box has the same stickers as the picture above, but I didn't look at the serial number.  I will have to do that when I get home.

My ball has a serial number and has USBC and a star engraved under the serial number.  I would say that means its good to go, but until I see it on the approved list I will probably wait to get it drilled.

Would saying its a solid version of a Marvel Pearl be fairly accurate?

No, the original Marvel would be the solid version of the Marvel Pearl.

The Maxx is a variation of the Marvel S.

Marvel S - NRG Solid
Maxx - NRG Smooth

Having rolled both, the Maxx isn't as early rolling and retains more energy at the rack.

The Maxx 2 is the same as Maxx (discontinued) but has a polished finish.

Anything with a centripetal core is just awesome  8)

I finally got so holes put into it.  I went with a stacked layout about 1/2 inch to the right of the ring finger and if required a balance hole in the p3 area.  I wanted a different layout from my IQ Tour Solid which wasin under ring with cg kicked out and a balance hole in the p3 or p4 area.  I haven't thrown it yet...might throw a few today.
