How do these balls compare side by side, drilled the same ?
-
I had/have both. Both are, to me, rolly pearls. The Anarchy was more of a â€all or nothing†ball. The Marvel Pearl is more versatile, more readable, and thus more user friendly. My only issue with it is that the core sometimes overpowers the cover.

I've heard this term used before and always wondered what it means. Care to share?
Not being sarcastic as I truly want to understand it.

Its when a core is so early that it circumvents the natural length of the cover. This can lead to major carry issues, especially when giving the headpin away.

Ah OK. Thanks, northface. I think I got it.

Marvel Pearl is easily more versatile. I had an Anarchy for a while and it was all or nothing. On the right conditions, it was tough to beat. However even the slightest change in lanes would make it unpredictable. It might have been a case where the Origin Core didn't match up well with the R3X cover or vice versa.
Then again, the R3X pearl and solid covers and the Origin Core haven't been used again since the Anarchy and Invasion were discontinued in the US.

Good observation, those R3X covers were very strong. I mean ridiculously strong, going up the lane on real volumes of oil, those two balls were unstoppable.

Marvel pearl, symmetrical = cover dominant, smoother on the back, needs friction downlane to be truly effective.
Anachy, asymmetrical = core dominant, flippier on the back. Doesnt need as much friction, can (in a sense) give you more reaction with less friction because there is something there (the core) to get the ball to turn the corner.
On your average THS, you arent going to see much difference in the amount of boards you cover just in the reaction shape and where the ball chooses to hook. When the condition tightens or loosens up, or sport shots, is where you'll see the difference.

Haven't thrown the Marvel pearl, but the anarchy was not a good core shell matchup for me. Never bowled good on a tournament pattern with it. I actually had similar issues with the Virtual Energy and Nano Pearl. I think that may be more common for a lot of bowlers than people think. It may explain the popularity of the Hy Road and Frantic which both seem much more versatile.

Haven't thrown the Marvel Pearl but have had GREAT success with the Anarchy. It's my benchmark. On THS or sport patters I've thrown well. Especially on the Shark, Chameleon, and Viper. Let's me play deep and still turn and carry. The only thing i can say that I haven't liked about it is transition. At times can become over under with carry down. That's when I go to a polished VG or my VE to dig in a little earlier.

They are both low rg, core-heavy balls. The Marvel Pearl had a more even motion front to back for me and had more versatility than the Anarchy. The Anarchy was a great ball for me as well, but I needed not only a good amount of oil but length too, as it liked to go bat shit crazy in the backend sometimes.

It seems to me there is a guy named PW that makes the Anarchy look pretty good!
