Marvel Pearl Opinion Video
« on: July 03, 2017, 06:55:24 AM »
Ok, this is what I actually think about the ball.  It's not a review, I'm not trying to be objective in this one, this is a chance for me to be a totally shameless fanboy if I want.  Typically I'm more of a solid cover guy, if you can make a pearl that I like and use frequently, there's something to be said about that.  For me, this is the second best ball Storm has ever made right behind the Hyroad.  Hopefully they start regularly producing it again, but after the way they handled it, I doubt they're going to do that.  I think a lot of people ordered a case or two because it was a limited thing and if they come out and say they're going to start making it again, people will be pissed.  Anyway, here's the video, thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video Luke, but just a suggestion:

You don't have to justify your opinions in every opinion video. I watched this to hear your opinion, but it took a full 56 seconds to get to that. We know you here, we trust you. If you want to throw in a quick sentence or two for a first time watcher that stumbled on the video, I get it, but leave it at that.

Great video as usual.

Yeah this is probably the last time I'll do this, just wanted to clarify because several people mistakenly thought my Code Red opinion video was an actual review and I got the "typical staffer overhyping everything trying to move units," comment several times.  It may not work for me to do an opinion video if it's going to be too confusing, but it doesn't really work in the same video.  Lol I felt like I sounded kind of pissy and bitter, but my wife was a bit miffed I spent 8 hours making videos yesterday, so it was just what came out haha.

Thanks for the video Luke, but just a suggestion:

Luke,

Thank you, keep the informative videos coming  ;) Very Helpful. Any need in having this and a Daredevil ? I like the Higher Diff #s on the Marvel Pearl( I throw 16 lbs) . Seems like it may be a little earlier and smoother ? Thank you

That's exactly the story.  DD is cleaner up front and at the breakpoint.  The MP blends wet/dry transition out a bit better.

Luke,

How does the Marvel Pearl compare to the Hyroad? Is it worth the cost difference to have both? Thank you

Yeah, Marvel Pearl is earlier and smoother and is 4-5 boards stronger than the Hyroad, so different shape and probably a full arrow stronger as far as total hook goes.

Luke,

How would the Marvel Pearl and the Snaplock compare? I have a Snaplock drilled 50 x4x75 and is very consistent for me. I like how the Snaplock revs early. Thank you

Comments like this help a lot, thanks!

Well I've been buying Motiv balls for the last 3 years and heard about the Marvel Pearl  being available again. My last Storm purchase was the Marvel S, IQ Tour Nano and Hyroad Pearl in 2014; which ended up being preserved for 3 years with a couple of games each on them.

So I'm going to Vegas in Sept for sweeps at the Orleans 9AM and thought why not change it up this time and use the Storm gear; bowled horrible last time with my Motiv Ghost and Trident.

So at any rate, I was on the fence about spending money on a Marvel Pearl because I really wanted a Code Red and ran across all your videos. First impression was wow real videos and wait there's an opinion as well! I watched and listened like 3 times to absorb the info and pulled he trigger on the Marvel Pearl. The information steered me toward consistent predictable motion in a ball that is 5 years old versus new technology and having fun.

Your opinion was fine and sort of scripted towards "I'm a staffer and I need to be objective" and felt like you held back on your true joy for the ball.

I drilled it up last Friday and test drove it with my Marvel S, lowered the surface on both and retested last night with my friends then retested today with a Storm staff friend to confirm the adjustments. I nailed it and I'm ready for Vegas.

Keep making them and take the heat!

Snap Lock rolls really strong and is jerky on friction, Marvel Pearl I think rolls just as strong, it's just a lot smoother and more controllable off the spot.

Great!!! I did not want this to be a skid-snap reaction. Smooth is my wheelhouse. Cant wait  :) Thank you for all you do , Luke.

In today's game with everything involved with conditions, and everything else, smooth ball reactions with moderate differentials is where it's at today.

These over aggressive pieces aren't even nessesary much anymore.
