Match UP BRB
« on: May 25, 2019, 10:28:59 AM »
MATCH UP BRB: 45 X 3 1/2 X 40 - 14lbs.
REACTOR HYBRID COVERSTOCK - 1500 GRIT POLISHED - CLOSER TO 4" FLARE
LANE INFORMATION: 42FT THS ON HPL INSTALLED IN EARLY 2000'S
Since returning to bowling since my accident 15 months ago, I drilled out "weaker" balls due to rebuilding my speed and arsenal to 14lbs, I though the Match Up BRB would be a great ball to be my new benchmark ball. Comparing it to the past Match Ups, The ball was less over under then the original Match Up for me on the fresh but just as predictable when and as the pattern broke down.  Better ball for slower ball speed people that are matched with their rev rate. I felt more comfortable using the ball inside of 15 at the arrows, and breakpoint about 5-6 board and keeping the ball speed around 13.7 TO 14.2… Great ball for mid performance ball for the money...

Before we begin, I want to thank Storm and Turbo for providing me with all the equipment I use every time I step on the lanes, and the Facebook page Storm and Rotogrip Bowling Balls for Sale for providing me with a platform to promote all of this great equipment. I recently decided to switch to 16lbs, so both balls featured in this video are indeed 16. The match up line is a great median between the hyroads and hustles. The match up hybrid was by far my favorite match up produced, so I was excited when I heard they were bringing back the same cover with updated colors. I decided to change things up for this video, and ended up bowling on a house shot. I believe these match up thrive on higher friction surfaces/shots, so this was a no brainer. The Match Up BRB breezes through the heads almost effortlessly, and doesn’t stand up too hard off of friction. This is a shape that is completely essential in my bag. As many of you guys know, blending out overwalled shots is not my favorite thing to do. The match up is not overly aggressive, so I am able to throw it right into the friction without worrying about it seeing the spot too quick and going through the face. When compared to the hyroad, you can see that the match up offers a very familiar shape but is quite I bit cleaner through the fronts and faster to respond to friction downlane. When bowling on any shot, I believe that it’s most important to read the lane from front to back. Even though both the Match Up and Hyroad cover almost the same amount of boards left to right, when they see the lane is completely different. The Storm Match Up BRB Hybrid
***Stinger 2.0 Core***
***1500-grit Polished Reactor Hybrid coverstock***

Set up with one of my favorite layout, 65x5x40.
The Match Up BRB will be staple for me at my wood lane house. Gets me the length I need with a strong, sharp motion to the pocket. When it hits the Friction this gives me more angle than I expected for the a ball in the HOT Line.

In a little more oil, this will end up being a drop down from my Idol Pearl. A great gap filler for my tournament arsenal. When there is less friction, the backend motion is much smoother.

With the price tag it carries, it should be an extremely popular piece for both the league and tournament bowler.

Length:40

Volume:Med-High

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): THS

COMMENTS

Cover: REACTOR HYBRID
Weightblock: Stinger 2.0
Finish: 1500 Polish
RG: 2.57
Differential: 0.035

Me:
Right-Handed Tweener
Speed: 12-13 mph
Rev Rate: 315
PAP: 4 7/8 Right 3/8 Up

Ball Layout: Pin Under Ring 70 X 4 3/8 X 70

The Hybrid Match-Up Blue/Red/Black creates a much different shape than other match-up releases. The Black Pearl was one of my favorites, the combo of sanded Pearl coverstock made it useful on a variety of conditions. The 1500 polished finish of the new BRB gives you a much cleaner option that is money of light volume patterns or high friction surfaces.

I am actually amazed at the difference in this ball from the Black Pearl. I had to move 3 and 2 right with the BRB and it reads so much later and is much smoother off the spot, (Due largely to the smoother layout I chose). My summer league is always an adventure in "what can I get to clear the front of the lane." The real challenge is that most of my cleaner balls are so angular off the spot that my angles have to be very open and small misses tend to have maximum penalty. The BRB is the perfect ball for these conditions as it is clean and controllable but still continuous.

Match UP BRB Review

The Match Up Black, Red, Blue is a continuation of the popular Match Up line. The new BRB has a smoother motion than the previous Match Up hybrid. This ball will be perfect for those patterns that are dry in the front and really dry downlane. Its clean through the front but doesn't snap too hard downlane! I was really impressed by how straight I could go with this piece. Usually low end balls with small cores absolutely jackknife off the dry, this ball though is different. The BRB was so smooth off the end of the lane. I think ball will fare well on the new shorter patterns were seeing from the PBA. Im excited for you guys to throw this ball!
