Match Up Solid Ball Review Storm Staffer Daniel Skitt
« on: October 15, 2017, 12:55:51 AM »
Just Taking some time to talk to you about another great release from storm the Match Up Solid. Before i drilled it i really injoyed the colour combo and the smell yum lol.the biggest thing i see with this ball in the motion in the midlane you get for a mid low solid bowling ball. Its still very clean but know to sharp at the break point compared to the match up pearl.more arcing shape but strong arcing shape.i didnt mind the origianl match solid just that ball wasnt really ment for low dryed up patterns no backend just alot of roll and no finish.im very happy with the change they made to the matches this year more bang for the buck in your bag.I will for sure use this ball alot deeper into longer game format plus using the match up get amazing carry as well, sometime those weeker balls dont have the cores to make them carry well but with the match ups you will match up anytime on those dryer condtions get to your local proshop and get match up.

Perhaps Storm should pay him to take a writing class...

Haaaa, boy I sure wish they paid for this.  I just do this because I like it, really significantly seriously in the red as far as this whole staff thing goes . .

maybe in the red due to time you put in. But they give you credits per site you place your review and credits for your videos. That covers your staff cost plus a few bucks.

@Luke does any one from headquarters ever compliment you for your work and reviews??? Or monitor sites like this to see what "staffers" do? I mean if they did, I would hope you get credit and others like this guy get a talking to....

Again, I wish . . if you want to be SUPER technical, if I do all the incentives, (they limit the reviews to a few certain sites, so it's not like I can post reviews on 20 sites and make bank on the credits) I break even for each ball, but the cost that goes into completing the incentives, specifically the videos, shoots it back up the opposite direction.  I'd be better off just paying for the equipment and not messing with the incentives, or at least the videos.  Youtube continuing to trend up, and hopefully earning me better contracts every year is the only chance I have at eventually turning it into a benefit.  Being on staff costs me more every year than it would if I wasn't, I certainly wouldn't buy this much stuff if I wasn't, but if I did forget the videos and just buy the few balls I wanted to make it a benefit cost-wise, there wouldn't be any reason to keep me on staff and I'd be gone . .  Now eventually it will work to my benefit if things continue going the way they are, but I'm only a couple years into it, so still pretty solidly in the red for now.

Now were I on with any other company, it would be a different story.  Being on staff with Storm is more like them doing you a favor, they're the biggest company out there.  The other companies need people "working the trenches," so guys with other companies get by far better deals.  I'm not complaining, it's not like it's a bad thing at all, and I've worked insanely hard and have made a lot of sacrifices to get where I'm at, but it's not near as "sweet" a deal as everyone seems to think or makes it out to be.

The staff manager who checks and verifies the reviews and videos has said some kind words to me, he likes what I do.  Otherwise not really.  I get some kudos from fellow "staffers" but I'm not sure what my regional rep thinks now because there's no way to translate interaction and views on youtube to a specific dollar amount, and that's what it boils down to.  I work a very limited amount in the pro shop now and don't spend my weekends bowling tournaments, I spend them making youtube videos.  I don't think they give anyone a "talking to," every once and a while they'll put out a PSA kind of reiterating policy or rules or guidelines and things, but if you're not cutting it, you just don't get a contract next year.  The people are really good though, I'm just not in that "cool kids club" where I'm somebody that anyone really knows or cares about, just another face in the crowd.

Yeah, I know. Been there, done that. Didn't resign. I know how it works bud. It's not worth it.

Edit- I imagine your on shop staff and not regional. So you still get decent credits to start the season, but not enough to do all the videos and reviews, imo.
