Yessir!

Definitely hear you out though Bill... good points for sure. With so many factors on the table though, there's no possible way a company can please evvvverybodyyyy. BUT DANGGGGG THAT WHITE 30TH ANNIVERSARY BALL LEFT A NASTY TASTE IN THE LOYAL SUPPORTER'S MOUTH

Hype is the driving force of the sales and comes with the territory in the battle of the brands. Without the sales, the sport loses out a great chunk of its finances... And without scoring, the sport loses out on growth as the deterred may just quit ... soooo "let's make a ball that'll do all the work for you" (technology).

A little bit of what Belmo had to say to the Brian Voss argument... but I agree with BV in some ways as well. As cool as it would be growing traditionally, we are going through evolutionary times (and not only in bowling). What a crazy generation to be living in! lol

Or we could just make good products that are well tested? BUT If they lasted we wouldn't be buying more and more and they would be out of business.  It's a bad cycle..it's the same with phones, TV, cars...ugh

Can't argue with much of what anyone has said, but I would like to add that the new Fight is really really good. Really good.

I have not seen the Phaze, but my two teammates were using a Fight in league Friday night and it looked awesome. Two completely different styles and both had good results.

But neither of them had the look I had with my Covert Revolt.   ;D

Lol @ NF.  The only people that can make the garbage balls work are tons of revs+tons of speed.  Mortals can't.

I'm just tired of not being able to:

Use a ball for more than 20ish games before it starts doinking tens

Having to switch balls during a 3 game set.

The alpha is coming out. I'd love to get it, but when in the "____" or hyphenated expletive, "____"-ING "_____" am I going to use this exept on the flood or the first 6 FRAMES of league.

I'm not going to be a koolaid drinking staffer and polish the he-double hockey sticks out of the ball.

What tajiris bowlersdeals.com video on the alpha. The picture is 2000 grit. But it's clearly polished in the video.

I might be turning into the AMF GUY AHHHHHHHH!

I agree that it did look polished in the video. I bet he couldn't carry a corner pin without the polish! The ball looked really lazy in the backend. I'm guessing it was burning up. Deflection, slow falling 10's, looked like it was holding back... I definitely do not want one! Can't throw much more than my pitch black right now though on the wood lanes of my home house :P

I'm not going to comment on the mfg comments in general but I can say the Alpha Crux is stronger than the Crux per the OP question.  If you watch our video, we didn't find the ball lazy on the backends at all.  On the contrary, it seemed very well matched up and we didn't change the factory surface. The shots we took were all just one after the other.  Literally took one or two shots out.  I usually don't hold back on any manufacturer since we are independent but I did like the Alpha and love the Fight.  Was not fond of the Optimus.  As always, when manufacturers release these snow tires, they don't always work for everybody and definitely need some oil or they puke.  If you want a ball with more versatility, you need to look at the middle of the road balls like the Hy-Road and IQ Tour.  If you don't like Storm, there are plenty of other versatile balls the Track Heat, Columbia Delirium, Hammer Virals, Ebonite Gamebreaker 2, etc.

Manufacturers are under a lot of pressure to come out with balls that the public wants, and much of the buying public wants ever stronger hook monsters.  Most of these super strong balls are not very useful to top caliber scratch bowlers in box condition.  In addition core shell matchup is important, and again the manufacturers often go over the top with super aggressive shells wrapped around super strong asymmetrical cores.  Best example from storm was the Nano series, but their have been others.

I am not familiar with the Crux, but the Lock, similar to the Paradox from Track, seems to have a core shell matchup that is very conducive tweaking for individual needs.

I love my Ride, but I'm in the minority when it comes to bowlers specs. Plus mine is drilled around 2 inches from my PAP.

I find the Lock to be a smoother, earlier shape.  The Alpha is quite a bit stronger off the spot, almost to the point of being unusable except on the longer patterns. The shape of the Alpha get me too far left too fast on house walls.

I drilled the alpha just before nationals last spring.  I slso previously had the Lock and Paradox.   The latter two did not match up at all well for me in box condition although I did have good luck with paradox
polished on a house shot.  The alpha was much better in box than either of the others.  It was the only thing in my bag that gave me a decent reaction at nationals although it was stronger than I wanted off the end of the pattern.  At this point I have about 75 games on it and it is in need of a resurface.  My carry has dropped off considerably

The Lock to me, is the closest Virtual Gravity motion in production from Storm. The Alpha is kinda like a beefy IQ Tour.

I feel the same way with my Lock as it's modern day Virtual Gravity, just stronger,  the Alpha is definitely a !Q that's on steroids.

I agree that the Alpha plays like a strong IQ Tour, which I like. Was never a fan of the VG and did not like the Lock. Makes sense. Both would stand up and stop for me. Tried different layouts on the VGs with no real luck, tried one Lock and quickly moved it.
