Mid Priced Line Up!
« on: September 01, 2004, 04:21:04 PM »
Storm has some good equipment in their mid priced lines. I'm wondering why anyone with any hand would need more than a Super Charge on anything but an all out flood? I am learning that the mid priced is the way to go. I'm not missing out on anything special. I've had some strong stuff in the past; but, this is ridiculous. The ball hooks like nothing I've ever thrown!! Anyone else going to the lower priced stuff because it is more than enough for the more advanced bowlers?

i said this same thing last november when i got a hot wire, and now i have had a barbed wire, razor wire, power charge, and a flash force since then.  they are all incredible balls, just as good as masterline equipment, and except for the flash force(overlaps, trying to sell) and the barbed wire(sold to my friend), they are still in my bag. i tried a reloaded, hated it, and sold it immediately.  there is no reason anyone would ever need those balls, and i am glad that others are starting to see the same thing.

I've always leaned more towards mid-priced stuff, although i cannot ignore the hitting power of the morpheus cores on heavy stuff. I have a flash point and eraser particle pearl from storms mid-priced, and the flash point is one of the hardest hitting valls i've ever thrown in my life. It is drilled 4.5 by 5 with the pin over the ring. THe flash point gets down the lane cleaner than anything i have, and if their is any dry, it smooths the reaction off it very much compared to other balls.

I've also been very happy with Storm's mid-priced line to date. I own three balls from their mid-priced line (Eraser Pearl Particle, Hot Wire and Barbed Wire) and they all get use on the house conditions I see. I haven't really been impressed with their high end line, that's why I went with another ball manufacturer to see what they would be like for a heavy oiler...

Why?, because they actually have a mid price line. Unlike Lane 1 that is over priced. I am sure that they make great ball too but no ball is worth 50% more regardless of who makes it.

I've owned several Lane#1 balls. While, they are good, the stuff being put out today in the mid price range is very comparable to the high end stuff from ANY manufacturer. Why spend the extra $$$? Maybe some need the secutiry of having the hig priced equipment. I need what fits my game best and the mid level equipment makes me look like a "Heavy-handed Power Player."
I'm definately not knocking the top line equipment, I just don't see the need for it except for the extreme high volume oily lanes.
Maybe I have more "hand" then I rememeber? I don't know. I do know that I can get three balls in the mid price range for the price of two master line from any company.

Storm owns the mid-priced line, in my opinion.  Track has the high performance stuff pretty well covered, and the Sonic-X line is the best out there for low end stuff.

No, really, I like you.  Now, by all means, feel free to go fornicate yourself with a sharp object.

I would totally agree with the mid-line stuff. Storm has some great stuff. I have not throw any Roto-Grip yet. As far as the Hi-Performance stuff, it really depends on how you throw and what matches up with your game and the centers you bowl at.

"Opinions and experiences will vary."

Now after that disclaimer..... I was posting about my experiences with the mid-level priced equpiment. Basically wondering about the level of difference between this stuff and the high-priced more advanced technology in the other balls. These pieces really move, even on heavy oil?! They roll fine and I like it. Great bowling balls without the hefty price tag. Now, again, I love my Lane#1 Blueberry; but, never got to use my Cherry Bomb much due to the sheer amount of hook off the dry boards. These new mid level balls aren't that much weaker?!
Now, I'll have to reconsider before I make a ball purchase. IMHO, no longer do you have to pay for the highest priced equipment to get the best all around performance.

To add, really looking at the Wire Series and Hot Rod Pro Stock... Sonner or later I'm gonna find a replacement for my "beat-up" Tour Power. Also, anyone have a TP NIB 15lb w/ 3" pin... I know a buyer.... Thanks

But that is the beauty of it....The mid-priced stuff covers many conditions, not just the dry. My Super Charge is really strong on oil. In fact, I will probably sellor trade it with only 3-4 games on it. (Too strong) It will just collect dust. The Hot Rod Pro Stock looks promising, can anyone compare it to a Tour Power?
