IQ Tour vs. Brunswick Versa-Max

For those who might know, how do the two compare?  I have heard the V-max will hook harder when it hits the friction with same drilling.  True?

From what I've seen, the versa max is way stronger off the spot. Same amount of total boards covered, but the iq tour is earlier and much smoother. I haven't personally thrown either, but that's what I've seen them do. Hope this helps.

In agreement, due to the differential of the IQ tour, Versa harder of the spot and further down lane motion than IQ tour. Both are versatile, but IQ tour needs more volume than Versa

This is what I was going to add. For me, the cover on the IQ Tour is stronger and will handle heavier oil than the Versamax. I can move in with the Versamax and carry the ten once they break down. Not so with the IQ.

So, everyone seems to know that the IQ comes dull and the Versa-Max comes polished. That difference is quite basic as far as length and oil handling is concerned; the greater RG differential of the VM shows up in more backend.

I was waiting to see if anyone compared them both dull or both polished?

I have both, and I can confirm a lot of what has already been said. Both balls are drilled identical, pin above the bridge which is about 5in from my pap and the cg kicked 3/4 in right from center line. The IQ is a smoother reaction off the spot and once the lane started to transition I would loose carry.  I started moving in, ten pin after tenpin. My Versa is probably my favorite ball in a long time. I have a nasty habit that if I'm going to miss I miss out. The Versa will make it back to the pocket where my IQ would never make it back. I tried taking the surface of the IQ to that of the Versa (500 , 2000 Rough Buff ) to try to make it useable longer but honestly i was better off just switching to the Versa once I moved in.

I have polished the IQ 500 1000 secret sauce. This made it cleaner through the front and what I call more jumpier on the back. I settled on 500/1000/2000 with no polish for our THS.

I have not tried the Versa dull. See no need to having the IQ Tour set up the same. For me the two balls cover two different conditions. The Versa is good on menium light and for moving in with on broken down shots with a defined track area.

The IQ Tour is good on fresh shots where there is head oil and I want to play straighter.  If there is enough volume to allow me to move in and carry keeping my angles straighter,
I never put the IQ down. If I need to open up the angle to carry I will use the Versa once I start seeing ten pins with the IQ.

The cover on the IQ needs more oil and the cover core combo rolls earlier.

I really think the IQ tour is at its best on flatter tournament patterns. It is very smooth and controllable, but is not going have the continuation on the back end if you have to play a lot of out angle as is often the case on house shots as they break down.  On the other side of the coin, I like my Versa on house shots, because I don't have to loop it around the puddle in the middle to quite the same degree I do stronger equipment.
