So far the move's a success . .
« on: January 15, 2008, 01:53:03 PM »
Posted something about moving from Brunswick back to Storm, and so far it's gone really well.  Found some old stuff at the parents house the other day, and it's actually given me a really good setup.  Have been using a Depth Charge, and found a Super Charge, Hot Wire, and X-Factor in a closet at mom and pop's place.  Still need some new equipment though . .  674 and 765 with the Depth Charge, and then 778 tonight with the X-Factor.  Should have shot 809, but I had back to back solid 8's in the middle of my last game.  Also finished 4th in a tournament on the US Open pattern over the weekend with my Depth Charge (the guy that beat me in the round of 4 needed to double in the 10th and went can opener and brooklyn, so it should have been a better finish, plus I was giving him 26 sticks).  Took my Super Charge to 800 grit, my X-Factor's at about 1500 polish, my Hot Wire's at about 1200 polish, and the Depth Charge should be around 1500 polish.

Big thing is I need a replacement for my X-Factor.  It's been in the hands of 4 different people (started in mine, sold it, and eventually got it back), and has probably 1200+ games on it.  Somebody said their Gravity Shift reminded them of the X . . talk to me!

Just throwing out an opinion/option here:

I had an X-factor years ago and it was a great ball.  If I were going to replace its reaction I would go with the Agent.  I know alot of people that love this ball and it got unbelievable reviews in BTM.  I have never thrown one, but my brother has 3, and loves them all.  Great ball that gets down the lane and flips pretty hard on anything resembling medium oil.

The shift on the other hand, with the few people I saw that used it, didn't look so great.  I don't know what it is, but it just doesn't give me that "WOW!!" that the agent does.  My brother had this ball also and he hated it.  The coverstock wasn't very durable and it seemed to lose it reaction very quickly.  I would stay away from it.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.  By the way, my bro is a high rev, high track player if you were wondering.

^^^That coming from a guy who throws all Columbia.^^^  Ok.

It's ok to recommend another ball to answer the thread, but don't dis a ball because what you saw others do. Their layouts, surface adjustments, speed or releases may not have matched up  w/the conditions of the lanes for the reaction they were looking for.  I have a Shift an love it & know others that do as well.  I will be getting a 15 lber soon.  I will also get the gravity in 15 lbs, & an inexpensive dry lane ball to round out my arsenal.  I'll never knock another ball or brand, especially w/out having thrown one.

Just my .02, get the ball & if you don't like it, pm me.

No, I called out the guy, who happens to throw only Columbia, while dissing a ball he doesn't throw of another brand.  Reading is truly a skill.  Maybe one day you'll learn it.  I didn't say Columbia was bad by any means.  I have a Columbia Reaction Ricochet, that I loved.  Now Show me where & how I dissed Columbia?

I'm just saying, from what I've seen the Agent looks like the type of ball he's looking for.  Throwing Columbia stuff doesn't have anything to do with it.

That is fine if that was all you said.  Read your post. You told him to stay away from the Shift while your profile shows your arsenal is all Columbia equipment.  Whatever.  Didn't want to hijack the thread talking about this.

From what I've seen the Shift doesn't look great.  Thats my opinion, it may work for you it may work for others, but I also know people who were dissapointed in the ball, and a few that do like it.  Its not a shot a storm, they make great stuff.  The special agent, t road solid, agent all look like incredible jewels, but from what I've seen, I would take the Agent over the Shift anyday.

Maybe I read into it a little too much. It just sounded like you meant he was dumb for throwing Columbia. It's not that I didn't read, I just over analyzed appearantly. It is difficult to tell tones over the internet so someone can write something and it could be interpreted many different ways depending on what tone is implied. Sorry.

On a side note, what he is saying about the Shift, I agree with to a point. I am not saying it isn't a good ball. I just think that it is very drill sensitive and if it doesn't get the proper drill on it for the player, it will generally appear to "suck". I have saw a lot of Shifts that looked like a piece but I have saw Shifts that looked great at the same time.

He said HE would stay away from it. Just an opinion. He didn't tell anyone else to stay away from it and the fact that he throws Columbia has nothing to do with it.

Urameishii, Your a day late & a dollar short.  This is over, but since you so ignorantly opened it back up, It would be like me throwing all Storm  & going On COLUMBIA'S forum board & telling someone to stay away from the BigShot or Momentum or whatever Columbia ball w/out ever throwing the darn ball.
