Was getting poor ball reaction from it and in the process of getting it re-drilled.
Orig. pattern: right hander; 17 mph; lower rev. rate.

Ball went pretty straight no matter what I did( hand position, surface change, etc) on heavy AND light. No hitting power or carry. Worked "ok" on medium only.
I usually have good success with pin above ring finger drilling. But since this ball has a higer RG ave. and I have lower rev. rate I thought this pattern should help to get the ball rolling sooner on heavier oil. Was I on the wrong track?
With my lower rev. rate should I try pin under finger? Or should I stay with pin above finger for better power? I would like to be able to use it on heavier patterns with a surface change to about 1000 grit.
I also read and heard the CG would "not" matter. But I just read in the LaneMasters drilling inst. that the ball will hook more with the CG kicked out to the right......

Pin under ring, CG kicked right. Maybe a small hole to keep it legal if need be.

With that drilling the ball is suppose to go straight. Proshops use that drilling to make the ball go straight.

According to Storm's( other companies similar) drilling inst. layout #3; pin is about 3-3/8 from my PAP. The CG is in about the same area: is supposed to be a "high flare" layout for low rev players seeking "maximum" ball reaction.......

What you're probably seeing is the ball is burning up when there isnt enough oil in the heads ( do to the strong pin position ) and the SureFire isnt supposed to be a "hook monster" for heavier patterns. This ball is great for medium patterns, but in my opinion you have too strong of a pin position in the ball if its at 3 3/8"

What you're probably seeing is the ball is burning up when there isnt enough oil in the heads ( do to the strong pin position ) and the SureFire isnt supposed to be a "hook monster" for heavier patterns. This ball is great for medium patterns, but in my opinion you have too strong of a pin position in the ball if its at 3 3/8"

I agree that it's burning up on dryer lanes, but definately not on oily lanes. Funny thing is that even on dryer lanes it did "not" hook in the head or mid-lane( may be just a bit); even with 1500 grit surface. But it did work "ok" on medium: not a big hook but consistant arc.
I think I'll prob. try 4 X 3 drilling with the pin at 1:30 pm of the ring finger. CG should be somewhere directly below the pin. Possibly add a weigh hole later.
