Super Sport Pearl vs Pro Stock Pearl
« on: October 19, 2005, 11:36:33 AM »
OK so Im looking for something to fit between my original X (5" pin) and my Thunder Flash (pin on axis). I tried a Pro Stock Pearl but its very snappy and didnt seem to match up very well very often.

A good friend and pro shop operator suggested a Super Sport Pearl based on his experience of both balls. I was wondering if anyone else had any input on this?

1. Would it fill the gap in terms of strength?

2. How does the reaction differ with the coverstock change?

No takers for this? Come on guys where are the gurus? I need to make a choice pretty quickly on this. Admitedly its a pretty cheap ball but I dont wanna buy it if it is the same ball as the Pro Stock Pearl, as I will most likely put the same drill on it.

I'd guess-timate that you, with the your virtually cranker release specs in your profile, will probably see a little bit more length in the SS Pearl over the Pro Stock pearl, plus a little bit more backend. That difference would depend a lot on the oil pattern, and it would be a relatively minor difference.

Both balls will probably be flippy for for you, but you might try a control type drill, maybe 3" x 5" or thereabouts or take a green (600 grit) Scotch-Brite nylon pad manually, AND LIGHTLY to the cover to make it grab the lane slightly earlier. Both balls should fit between the X and the ThunderFlash, but be careful because both the Monsoon cover on the Pro Stock and the Reactor cover on the SS help that mild core approximate the power of the X's asymmetric core.

Thanks guys. My stats look cranker-ish but I'm a free swinging power stroker.

Thats exactly what I figured about the SSP looking at the specs, just a friend of mine hated the PSP and is raving about this. I'l pass on it.

OK if there are people out there who wanna throw recommendations at me to fill that gap, the drillings are in my profile.
